VirtualBox is an Open Source, Free for all use virtual hypervisor that runs on Windows, Mac, Linux, and… Solaris. It is a good tool for using to learn Linux.

Hardware Requirements
You should have at least 8GB of RAM and a 256GB SSD. You can run VirtualBox Virtual machines on less, but you may crash your host system, or have odd problems.
Make sure to know the system requirements for the distribution of linux you will be installing. The default settings in VirtualBox are far too low for many distro’s. Ubuntu Desktop 18.04 requires 2GB of RAM and 20GB of Storage.
Network Settings
To start leave network setting “Attached to:” as NAT.
The “Attached to:” setting is used for allowing network communication to and from your virtual machines. Each setting allows specific things such as whether the Host computer can be communicated with, or whether virtual machines are isolated to a virtual network within the host machine. Incorrect settings here can cause major issues.
