complete pxe boot server tutorial of Ubuntu 16, we configure pxe boot server on Ubuntu 16.4 using dnsmasq configuration with dhcp and dnsmasq configuration setting existing dhcp on the network, we add centos pxe boot default entry with share image by httpd, nfs and ftp server.

  • As someone who spent a decent of my time reading the long-complicated patent applications similar to the PXE instructions as shown in this video to boot from Ubuntu 20.04, you know those documents that can go on for 1,000+ pages full of small texts if you read the prior arts, I can tell you if your struggling to 'simply' boot Ubuntu from Network, you're not alone, this video requires more knowledge to understand than the entirely of an American Medical School curriculum.

    I just want to boot Ubuntu from 1 laptop running Ubuntu, to another laptop , because the 'another' laptop has damaged hard drive and can't run DVD to run live Ubuntu, and can only run off USB live, but I want to be able play minecraft on the laptop that has a damaged hard drive CONNECTOR.

    I should just be able to boot PXE from Ubuntu out of the box, and connect it to another laptop , and it would boot out of the box, I only have less than 100 years on this earth, why would I waste 50 years learning to do this, than just having simple human meat brain instructions to connect an ethernet cable to laptop, and transfer it like transfering souls

  • These instructions only work for netboot/bios. None of this will work for uefi. Need syslinux.efi bootloader files. Also tftp does not work well with virtual machines when using uefi, use a http server instead.

  • Hi, I have a vlan routed network.
    Management 10.0.60.0/24
    Teachers 10.0.40.0/24
    Students 10.0.30.0/24

    Ip and dns are assigned from the cisco switch.

    How can I setup a pxe server in this scenario ? I would like 1 central linux pxe server that the networks can access.

    I am confused by the dnsmasq settings

  • Hi Guys, Anyone know a program what do it this automaticly under Linux? Has any GUi (WEB/Terminal) and i upload an iso and than the program/application do it automaticly the ( LABEL 1, LABEL 2, LABEL 3 etc etc… Thank you!
