A Modern Operating System in 1.44MBs
In this video I tried out KolibriOS, an operating system that is so small it can fit on a single 1.44mb floppy disk!

mom, can we get gears of war?
we have gears at home.

"One night I was hanging out with a couple of friends just looking at a bunch of operating systems". …Wish I had pals like yours. Great review. I heard that early slackware was like this. Fitted on a floppy, did everything. There are videos on yt of Aboriginal Linux working on 386s playing mp3s over SSH from a remote server. 0__0
#RiscOS is a few megabits… 2mb maybe for the kernel, with a mouse and keyboard 😉
More modern versions need about 200mb for comfort. RiscOS 2/3 ran on ARM2 8mhz 500mb of ram with no Harddrive.
Astolfo :3
Looks better than Linux that's for sure
🍿🍿🍿
I can't hardly believe it is possible. These guys deserve a Nobel Prize.
bro runs minesweeper, insta like

ColibriOS is so cool, I have yet to try it tho even tho its been like a month since I discovered it XD
"we are using 100% cpu usage rendering a fucking cube"
that is by far the FUNNIEST sentence i have ever heard.
Why is there a monitor on the xbox 360? 1:47
I love your antics in this video! Where did you get that OS9 theme?
how in the hell did you get such a good looking Mac os 9 theme??? Is that KDE plasma??????
Is this the sort of thing that could be useful for testing old Pentium towers where the hard drive has been removed?
This operation system can run on potato but not on iPhone
forget kolibri, what kde theme is that??
I really like the figure
Wait, how do you have such a pretty Mac OS 9 gui? I need this.
alpine linux with i3 thats the most light weight fuctional modern opreating system you could possibbly get
Heh I had the same monitor when I was younger, the degaussing noise used to scare the piss out of me.. so i had a metal rod specifically for turning it on ^^
loved the video btw! kolibriOS is.. really something
just discovered this channel, great vibes
I wonder why you have translate from Lithuanian in google translate 😅 I'm Lithuanian
Probably better to just use win95/98 on a p2
wow this guy smart i wonder if hes good at csgo movement?
I wonder why today operating systems need multiple gigabytes of data and ram, and hundreds of exes and dlls, plus additionally need to patch multiple bugs and exploits every month.
1:27 Thanks for that audio blast from the past
6:50 👀
of course astolfo is there
KolibriOS é meu preferido
That is a serene and high-speed O.S. I never used that.
그것은 고요하고 빠른 O.S이다. 나는 전에 그것을 사용한 적이 없습니다.
what's ur microphone?

Imagine if software developers today tried as hard as they did back then to write software in the smallest file size possible. Our devices now have so much storage it has made our developers lazy in optimizations and file size compression. Most software devs now only think of compression if people start complaining about download times. Even then, they'd rather boost bandwidth and network speed rather than compress or optimize file sizes.
2:28 It's amazing, I didn't expect to see a graphical interface in such a compact Operating System
A modern operating system, complete with windows, cursors, applications, desktop, etc…. and was all written in assembly. Man, what a nightmare that must have been to develop, and god forbid what debugging must have been like.
Idk why, but when the windows NT noise played I just smiled.
It was one of the first OS's I had on my first computer, I was 14ish and it was all mine. We had a family pc but I managed to get my very own.
Just reminds me of better times
Windows NT 4.0…. Yuck! Windows 95, 98 and ME was so much more better than that untested piece of garbage
It s like KNX 1.44 Mb reel time Os on 2000 😉
A perfect example of how modern OSes bloated are. Primarily Windows, of course.
Old hardware use ps/2
What are the song playing in the background. Specifically the one at 4:37
