  • This feels like a downgrade or a sidegrade from ASUS's home AiMesh line. Which I really like, and I think is great. This "expert" product needs some work, and I'm not seeing too many reasons to spend $200 extra on this package than what I spent on my 2-unit mesh system.

  • As someone who has only ever had my ISP provided router (Virgin Media) the software side looks pretty exciting to me!

  • Great video….Wait to you test their dumb ap in stand alone mode… same UI but less features.. you want to see clients on different Vlans.. forget about it😂😂😂 you only see clients on your main IP.. but the graph definitely shows you clients are connected though with functioning traffic.. so long story short stay away EBA63 unless you buying the router as well

  • Speaking as a user of asus xenwifi gear, it's ironic that in that kinda dated web UI, on the consumer-grade kit, we have:
-lots of wifi settings (a bunch of which i don't understand)
    – big client list you can access from the middle of the dashboard. Which it lets you filter. 🤓

  • Yikes. Spicy comments here that I can’t disagree with. I’m just wondering if you can flash this with Merlin firmware? A 1 gig WAN port is a miss, products in 2024 should have 2.5 so you can get your maximum throughput, I wanna get one of those 4 port mini PCs w open sense as my next router.

  • The WiFi segment and leading up-to was pretty funny 😂
Who at Asus thought it was a good idea to not only have the WiFi password showing as default BUT ALSO not have an option to hide/show

    Ps LemmeStealYoData

  • I dont know if I can trust an asus going forward

  • Interesting to me as a potential ubuiqiti ER-X alternative (although currently more expensive). A wireguard speed comparison of the 880mhz Dual core MIPS vs 1.8GHz Dual core Armv8 would be mighty interesting. Now I'll have to check if Openwrt is available…

  • ive been a advocate for asus routers, as long they're supported by asusmerlin custom firmware, due to the nature of having good adguard home integrated these days .

from the get go, from recommending used ac88 to ax88 to ax86/ ax82/ zenwifi / zenwifi xt12s …. they all suffer the same bloated interface when tuning and changing settings….. just why ? as for the mobile app is even more appaling to a point where i tell my friends and extended family members who are interested in doing and learning the asus routers and settings to simply adhere to the golden rule : always configure using your laptop / web browser interface only.

as for the protection, it really is a joke to be still on trend-micro.

now with that out of the way, ive dabbled and purchased unifi cloud gateway ultra and the first few Firewalla purple,

hands down, no one in the pro-sumer space can compet with Ubiquity's offering.

    Interface and apps, just seamless.

IDS and protection no brainer… though , firewalla might give all of them their run of money with abilitiy to do adguardhome as well, as a docker .

in summery, what im putting out for anyone who is reading my ramblings, just learn Ubquity and forgo the asus….. gaming routers are worthless, as ive learned the hard and long way….. when your controller , the one doing the packet switching or protection for the network of your home, is utterly impossible to navigate.

[ yes, the experwifi interface is copied wholesale from ubiquity but retains some of the retarded portion of AI mesh ] which is hella confusing for newbies AND experienced folks diving in this area or hobby

  • ASUS are like nVidia with networking, both suck and should stick to their respective lanes.

  • I've had an Asus router for a week before returning it because my 2.4Ghz network just disappeared and couldn't be enabled. That was after trying to resolve my IOT connection issues by creating a VLAN. Looks like Asus still wasnt able to fix the issues with shitty software. On top of that it's overpriced and only 1Gbit. I'm really fed up with the current status of consumer network devices, it's impossible to find a decent 2.5Gbit solution still.

  • This looks like a glorified UI redesign on top of Asus' consumer wifi software.

  • My latest Spectrum router separates modem and router. Now the router has an always on WiFi. Not only are they adding more physical devices, they are removing software functionalities. Seems like they're going backwards. Decided to just use my own router.

  • Are you really reviewing a 1GbE port router/switch in 2024? You gotta be getting paid to waste your and our time…

  • Ive been a long time ASUS boycotter but it is nice to see more competition in the space. Software can always be improved and desperately needs it here. But it seems like the lack of 2.5Gb ethernet is the bigger downside for an "expert" line of products.

  • Why are companies still making 1g products???? At least 2,5g, everything other than that can be free and in dont want to use it. I only buy 2,5g and up products, this things lasts a long time, i dont want to buy new devices next year because they are old when they're came out
