I think the minimum install, with development tools should be enough. But for some people it may be scarier because the os is just a terminal.

I am learning CentOS because the new company is working with it. Coming from Windows it's pretty hard to me.

I really dislike the CentOS logo… It looks like it's stuck in the 70s or something. I know it's not a top priority to Dev team, but good appearance can improve adoption.
Just look at the difference from blender 2.79 to 2.80+

Great review. I found the new default gnome view of not seeing the files on the desktop along with tabs for open windows on the bottom along with the lack of minimum and maximum buttons was something I found annoying. However the gnome-tweak tool brings this functionality back.

Going with Gnome by default is a real head scratcher to me. It is very bloated and heavy on resources for a distro that is designed to get work done.

    Great review!

I' m trying CentOS out, and every time I try to install KDE Plasma Workspaces it says it can't find the module. I don't mind GNOME but I think it's causing problems with my graphics card.

EDIT: I'm gonna try to reinstall following your tutorial. I think I might have done something wrong bumbling through it on my own.
