In this video, you’ll see one way to capture (and then analyze) traffic flowing through an Ethernet switch. Specifically, we’ll setup SPAN (Switched Port Analyzer) on a Cisco Catalyst switch. That will allow us to capture (using Wireshark) Telnet packets going between a laptop and a router. Then, we’ll use Wireshark to clearly show the username and password entered by the laptop.

This topic is identified on the Certified Ethical Hacker (CEH) exam as “Sniffing.”
