How does DHCP work?
When a device on your network needs an IP address, more than likely it will use DHCP (Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol) to obtain the IP address and other network configuration setting.
Below are the steps taken by the devices to obtain an address using DHCP.
DHCPDiscover – Looks for a DHCP server
DHCPOffer – The DHCP server offers an address
DHCPRequest – The host requests to lease the address
DHCPACK – DHCP server sends the IP addresses to the host

Why is the DHCPoffer broadcast? Doesn't the router know the mac address of the host that made the DHCP discover? shouldn't all DHCP communications after DHCPdiscover be unicast?

okay, so what happens if u are host B and say "Yeah bruh im a DHCP Server!" instead of dropping it?

I see where it can be useful when, like you said, you have 200 devices, but how many homes actually have 200 devices ? I've got maybe 10-20 connected. Would this still be too much to assign individual IP's rather than use DCHP?
