InFocus M512 4G LTE Smartphone-stupid cheap 4G and with great specs? How dare they? [Review]

Full review at http://www.redferret.net/?p=45659 .The brand new InFocus M512 Android smartphone is one of the first 4G LTE phones to arrive on the Chinese and global market at a budget price, and it comes with some very solid specifications indeed.

We’re talking a Qualcomm Snapdragon 400, quad core processor running at 1.2 GHz, 1 GB RAM, 4 GB internal storage (with support for up to 32 GB microSD storage. A 5 inch Gorilla Glass screen, with 1280×720 resolution, Bluetooth 4, Android 4.4 KitKat, WiFi, A-GPS, NFC, OTG, 8 megapixel rear camera and a 2500 mAh battery pack (fixed).

The use of the Qualcomm chipset means there’s a few interesting differences between this Foxconn built handset and the typical Chinese MTK based phones. For one thing the camera is rather good, even at 8 megapixels it easily holds its own against some 13 megapixel rivals. It also runs fast for a quad core, and has an insanely fast boot up time – which to be honest we still cant’ believe.

In general this super budget priced smartphone comes up with all features you’re likely to want in a phone, and in fact if it wasn’t for the fact that our test unit got rather hot during GPS navigation work, we’d have to say this phone ranks as one of the best Android phones we’ve tested so far. As it is, it’s still worth putting on your evaluation list, especially if you need the extra speed that 4G gives you.

NOTE: be sure to double check whether your favorite service provider offers 4G LTE which will work with this phone, since not all do. The standard is still far from stable at the moment, so that check is crucial.
