ubuntu was installed on Lenovo G70-80 and as a result corrupted the Bios firmware. The issue is caused by a bug in the Intel SPI drivers in the kernel. The bug results in a bios that cannot boot from a hard drive or usb drive and as a result, installation of a new operating system is not possible. Their has been allot of threads on how to remove ubuntu startup bug from bios using the ubuntu operating system. With very little success rate removing this bug and as must people can’t even access ubuntu to try out the command line, the only fix for this problem is to reprogram the firmware on a new EFI bios chip and replace the bios ic.
