Making ends meet: IPv4 exhaustion and the transfer market @ APRICOT 2016

The depletion of ARIN’s IPv4 supply in 2015 means that four out of five RIRs have reached IPv4 exhaustion. While the global shift to IPv6 continues to gather pace, many network operators still require IPv4 addresses to manage network growth during the transition phase. As a result, activity in the IPv4 transfer market is steadily growing.

How does the transfer market work? What are the implications for network operators? Could this impact the integrity of the global routing table? In this interactive session, a panel of global experts drawn from RIRs, ICANN and address brokers will discuss the implications of IPv4 exhaustion and the transfer market, provide research insights, and offer advice for network operators wishing to make a transfer.
Presentations from:
Alain Durand (ICANN) – IPv4 Transfer Analytic View
Geoff Huston (APNIC) – Transferred IPv4 Addresses
John Curran (ARIN) – ARIN 2015 IPv4 Activity
Sandra Brown (IPv4 Market Group) – IPv4 Pricing and Transfer Update – IPv4 Market Group
Gabe Fried (Hilco Streambank) – IPv4 Exhaustion and Market Activity
Aftab A. Siddiqui (eintellego) – Panellist
Adiel Akplogan (ICANN) – Panellist
