You don’t need to buy the Steam Deck OLED if you’re a more casual Deck enjoyer, but if you’re a ‘power user’, or you’re looking to pull the trigger on a Deck for the very first time then you are going to be EXTREMELY happy with what Valve have packed into this mid-generation refresh.

  • Pretty good sign when a company's "lies" are underselling their own product.

  • It's just too expensive for me. I already own the switch and while it's nowhere near the power of the Steam Deck I just use it to play Nintendo games and indie (mostly) pixelart games that it can handle and actually look better on the smaller screen than on a big TV. I don't think I would enjoy playing something like Elden Ring on a handheld anyway. I do still want the Deck though… it's just a very nice piece of hardware.

  • Here's one for ya, I shit you not this is a true story.

I got locked out of my bank account making an online purchase once.
Rang my bank, "we fixed it". 2 minutes later, same problem. Locked out again.
Spoke to 3 people in the same day who all "unlocked it".
Last person I spoke to, she goes "can you make the same purchase with me witnessing it on my end?"
I says "…to be honest, the moments passed."
She replies "OK… Well, can you make a small purchase elsewhere, just so I can make 100% sure and unlock it."
I umm and ahhh, cant think of what to buy. A moment of inspiration hits me.
After a pause, she says "OK, it came through. Dragon's Dogma? £4."

It's like, you can't not at that price, even if you already completed it back on the PS3.

Ta-da! And that's kinda the beauty of the Steam Deck… lol.

One thing ALL of us Steam users share. One common ground that unites us… When them Steam sales hit… I mean, they're practically year-long now like, but, I digress… We're like flies to a golden turd. 95% off Alone in the Dark Collection? G'wan then. Elder Scrolls: Daggerfall for free? I'm adding it "just because". Dead Rising 3, I never bothered with after disliking the 2nd… but for £3, I'll give you a shot. Oh hello, Fallout New Vegas. I'm pretty sure I've owned you multiple times already, but… £3.79?
    This is the way.

  • Mmmmmm nice showcase cocoon is a great game to showcase the juicy HDR

  • Love seeing you all excited about tech and showing your face! Enjoy being informed by you guys as per usual, one of my favorite channels on this website.

  • Liked the longer more casual format

  • its a breath of fresh air when a big tech company does a ghost drop

  • know what makes the original version better? its paid for already, no way would i buy another deck just over those small improvements i would hardly notice. yea yea oled big whoop, still not a big deal.

  • It hurts a little to see this after owning the LCD version, but I'm glad they're sticking with it and look forward to getting these improvements when I eventually get a Deck 2.

I also wonder how much of these improvements are purely software, because the 3.5.5 update is insane!

  • 37 updates!? That would cover like 7 new versions of switch if Nintendo was involved 😂

  • When I made the upgrade to a switch oled I was very worried it was oversold but the contrast and brightness is truly insane. It made me fall in love with my switch again and I’m super glad to see other devices move to oled technology as well. With that said I’m actually unsure if I’ll be buying the new switch right away after hearing it won’t be an oled version at launch in order to reduce cost. I personally think it’s a mistake by Nintendo to go this route or at least not have two models at launch as it’s so hard to go back after using the oled. I’m glad valve is seemingly moving to oled but hope it becomes a solid standard so this kinda stuff doesn’t happen.

  • Already having a steam deck, I'll skip the steam deck 1.2 and wait for the next one

  • I'm distracted knowing skillup doesn't claw when playing Elden Ring

  • "when I hold my old DECK and my new DECK" sorry I heard u wrong

  • I feel the same way about handhelds. And I feel the same way about the Steam Deck. I love that I can take it on the plane and will play games for hours on long trips. I also play my Steam Deck every night. It is hands down the best handheld, and I have also tried to get into handhelds for years and haven't been able to get into it. I did order an OLED Steam Deck because I love this hand held so much.

  • are you going to selling the old steam deck?

  • Did Sony send you a PS Portal to review? Interested your own take on it.

  • mid gen upgrade?!?!?! ITS ONLY BEEN A YEAR AND A HALF ARE YOU KIDDING ME. So glad I wasted 700 bucks on a outdated console already

  • I need it for streaming my pc to another room. 720p 90hz needs to get bumped up to at minimum 1080p 120hz. Lenovo Legion Go would have been the one but the screen isn’t oled. Can’t go back from oled it just looks so good.

  • Probably mentioned elsewhere in here, but you left out not only that the Charger has a Logo now, but it's also like twice as long which was actually an issue with the original one when you did want to play tethered.

  • The logo on the charger seems silly when you first think about it, but when you're this much into tech, surely you have some similar looking chargers. It's nice to spot at a glance which one you need to unplug.

  • Great overview overall but a couple things to note. The mid tear steam deck had 256gb of storage not 128 as stated in you video. Also the screen on the Rog ally is the same size as the lcd deck and smaller than the oled deck.

  • My friend got the OLED and i have the LCD version. I expected much more of a difference after seeing the reviews. The screen is better but not that much to make an upgrade. Also it costs €570 which is too expensive for that performance. I got mine for €400. I will wait for the Steam Deck 2.

  • Undersell and overdeliver? What a concept.

  • I would have gotten a Steam Deck if it ran windows or at least was easier to get something like PC Game pass going on it since I use PC game pass a decent amount. But for that reason, I went with the new Lenovo Legion Go. It's definitely a hefty boy, but I definitely am enjoying the device and think it is worth every penny

  • windows 11 is so bad on rog ally I had to install windows 8

  • "Mid-gen refresh" You mean the thing that came out last year? 😂

Must suck for the people who pre-ordered the 1st version 22 months ago
