On step number rather than changing to binary to find n, just 512 is the min to host 500 hosts.. i list power of 2 like 512,256,128,64,32,16,8,4,2,1 and 512 = 2 power of 9, so n=9
Then we know that per eachsubnet 2p9=512 host adress.
Then the new subnet would be 32- 9zeros= 23
/23 is new mask. The last #1 of network bit is our increment which is 2!
