✅ The Secrets of Verizon 4G LTE Home Internet

I test it so you don’t have to, here’s Verizon’s 4G LTE Home Internet. I show the gateway settings/features (NAT, firewall, DHCP, wifi, etc), speed test, cell signal, 4k streaming test, hooking up my own router and more. Overall this is a reasonable option for many with few other choices for home internet. The biggest drawback is it is throttled for both download and upload but it does have unlimited data and is no geolocked so you *technically* can travel with it.

  • Is this entirely mobile? Can it be used for Vanlife for instance or a service backup with a customer loses internet (If Verizon LTE in area?) or is it address/loc dependent?

  • So, in the setup instructions it is advised to set the gateway up near/next to? a window on an elevated surface. It doesn't appear that you've done that. Also with a static gateway, what are your signals like in different areas of your home ( coverage area)?

  • I'm also in Michigan. So 5G is not an option where you live? We are moving and they say 5G is not available at our location. So you are moving your Box from place to place? Its not physically located at the address where you say it is?

  • What is the magic of getting one of these from Verizon? I live in an area with a great LTE signal, and Verizon's website still says not available in my area. A work associate has a next-door neighbor who has had this unit for quite some time now. However, when he puts in his address, not available. So, he put in the neighbor's address who has it, and it comes back as not available. How are all these people getting these things?

  • QUESTION: Do you know if this service be used for data mining?

  • Admin password fails when I put in my gateway password😢

  • I have the 4g lte home internet with Verizon I’m over 10 miles away from my nearest cel tower my speeds vary from 36mbps download down to 1.1mbps download usually 800-900kbps upload with a steady 65-999ms ping when playing call of duty. I’m not sure which option would be best for my gaming setup to be better 80ms ping is fine by me honestly. But the spikes are horrible when others use the internet. I’m not sure which option would be best I’ve been watching your channel for a couple months and appreciate your content. What would you suggest if I’m brokeish and can only afford so much for a booster or external antenna?

  • You said to use any external router with the Verizon 4g home internet to enter the routers up address in the dmz settings, but why wouldn't ip pass thru be the better option? With ip pass thru the Verizon box acts pretty much just like a modem only, doesn't it? Then it doesn't assign ip addresses or anything else. It just provides the internet and the 3rd party router handles everything.. so my question is, isn't ip pass thru the best way to use a 3rd party router?

  • Help I need to add a switch to this for my office … which one do I get ?? Help!

  • Hello, The Verizon Home Internet over 4G LTE has a max speed of 50/6. Now I live a mile from the site and I have managed to get my cell signal down to a whopping 77/79 decibels and it's not even in a window but close. Make sure to get yourself your own Wi-Fi 6 and turn the Verizon one off as it's vary limited range. I went to the opposite side of my home which is about oh I don't know 70 ft and I had 2 out of 4 bars on the 5G Band and with mine I had 3 bars at that same distance and got 52/6.06 lol. The Service work's great at 1 mile but most important thing to remember is a good solid signal. I have had mine way up to 95 decibels and even no I got the same speed I get dropped out of online games. Now I have a good connection that's strong it doesn't do it anymore. Verizon only guarantees outside signal and recommends a cell signal strength of 73 which I do get if I step out my front door but indoors it's around 95 on my phone. I do wish Verizon would offer them free devices that boost the outside signal and bring them indoors. If you remember years ago when Sprint had something called the Sprint magic box I basically already had great service for Sprint but told them that I had spotty service even though I had four bars out of the five they sent me this massive Sprint magic box that brought me from like band 26 the band 41 and having over 200 MB without it I was only getting around 80 MB so it shows me that these devices really didn't work but ever since 5G came out they discontinued them.

  • I got the 4G LTE Verizon Home Internet ( cant get the 5G where i live) and I think its wrong that they throttled the LTE version when the 5G cost the same

  • Your the only one who shows the unit and lot of interesting info. Still dont know if data is unlimited for the price.

  • How do you get this router to work with devices? it won’t connect to my sonos speaker or printer

  • Thanks for all the info. Would like to dump Comcast, but only the LTE service is available in my area, so I'm thinking it through.

Also, like your desk. Wondering if you recall the make & model? Thanks.

  • Yup it throttles me at 50 as well im happy with that considering i have no other option other than hotspots where i live lol…how do you get into the wifi settings like u did?

  • Nater quick question. I have a mofi 5500 router. I have changed the imei number to match my Verizon router. I install show great signal but no internet access. Any recommendations?

  • I have 750Mbps at $90 a month from my cable company..would this Verizon plan, at $50 a month, be just as good & reliable? Thanks!

  • That 50Mbps speed that you get with 4G LTE is due to a physical limitation of the hardware. The closer you are to the tower, the higher your speed will be as the tower and the radio built into the Verizon Gateway doesn't have to work as hard to pass data between each other. But if there's obstacles or walls, the data speed will decrease to ensure that the packets that are sent a received are not corrupted. My advice, locate the tower nearest to you, once found, put the Verizon Gateway near a window of your home that faces the tower. You should see way better results when running speedtest.
