Hello everyone Carson here and in today’s video, I’m going to be telling you the difference between VPS hosting and shared hosting. Now before we do get into this video, just a reminder to leave a like, subscribe and hit that notification bell. So every time I upload, you are notified. And now let’s get into the video, I will also leave some links in the description to my favorite VPS and shared hosts. So no matter which type of hosting plan you want to go with, you can find the one for you at a special discount.
And now let’s get right into the video. Now between VPS and shared hosting, there are quite a few similarities. But there are some distinct differences between these two types of hosting plans because that’s what they are. A hosting plan is essentially something you’ve purchased. So you can store your website on an external server, which will then serve up your website to anyone who requests access.
There are a multitude of different hosting plans, including VPS, hosting, dedicated hosting, shared hosting, cloud hosting and a multitude of others. And all of these hosting plans are divided by their distinct benefits, pros and cons as well as the prices which you will be paying for each. In today’s video though, I want to be explaining the key differences between shared hosting and VPS hosting, because those are two of the major platforms which you need to know about before buying a hosting plan.
Now to start off, what is shared hosting?
Well, shared hosting is essentially where your website is stored on one central server with a multitude of other websites and the resources of that server are being split between all the websites equally or according to their traffic. Think of it this way. Let’s say you have one major server right here. Now it’s serving up your website as well as a multitude of other websites. Which means anytime someone requests access to that website, that server specifically will be giving them access. However, because servers only have limited resources.
Obviously, if too many of the websites which are stored on it request access to their resources at once, then you can expect it to slow down a bit and you can expect to see slightly slower speeds on that host. Because shared hosts by and large can host a lot of different websites on one singular server, the prices for those hosting plans are incredibly cheap, some even going down to 99 cents a month, like hosting her, which by the way is one of the websites I will have in the description does a major benefit of shared hosting is even though your speeds might be a bit slower.
And even though it might be a bit more inconsistent in the speeds, you are getting it at the cheapest price possible on the market, there is no other type of hosting, which is cheaper than shared hosting, shared hosting is undoubtedly the cheapest and the most cost effective hosting in the world, as I said, going down to 99 cents a month. And obviously, if you bought with a good host, like the ones I recommend, it also usually comes with a free domain name and a free SSL for one year, which is a big benefit.
When you’re trying to start that software startup or that website or that business, you want to start getting into VPS hosting little VPS hosting is essentially at its core. Well it stands for virtual private server host. And essentially what this means is that you get your own entire virtual private server on a server that is dedicated to a fewer amount of hosts.
