Crikey looks easy, i cant get past adding a passwd for a user comes back with "Failed to add entry for user"
Excellent tutorial, thank you!!
Best tutorial I have found for samba. Thanks for posting this.
4:13 It's worth pointing out that an SMB user can only be added if it's an existing UNIX user. use "sudo adduser <username>" to add the UNIX user and then then it can be added to the list of SMB users using "sudo smbpasswrd -a <username>"
Dears how to add two user one for read only 2nd for readwrite and then implement these thing
This is absolutely brilliant and so well explained. I've been searching for days on how to share Folders on my Linux Mint Computer. Unlike Ubuntu, Linux Mint doesn't have a GUI for Network Share. Not sure why that is but. You clearly explained how using Samba from the terminal makes it easy to implement and modify. Thank you so very much.
thankyou for the tutorial. can you do the same samba tutorial for fedora 37 and w11 sharing please?
Great video! Is there a way to use ssh authentication rather than a password?
Hi after rebooting pc where samba is installed. Do I need to re run the commands for samba?

This is the best video I have ever seen on this subject!
One question.
Don't you have to have a "/" before "home/username/folder"?
like this "/home/username/folder"
I've ran into a wall on my home network. I can see the drives and folder but get denied access to the files. This is using ubuntu. It showing a permission and denied access. Does the samba config file needs to be modified?
Thank you π
No entendΓ nada de lo que decΓas, pero excelentemente Bien Explicado y funciona. Saludos desde Argentina
your windows 10 run on vm or host machine? because i cant connect server ip on windows 10
Excellent video! I'm having problems with a folder that is in a sata HDD and already exists (/media/useName/share). That folder was previously created on a Windows 10. I follow the steps here and it shows in the network, but I can't access it from Windows 11. From my android phone I have no problem acessing it. Weird.
Edit: I was able to enter the folder from a Win 10, from the "This PC -> Add a Network Location->…" way. I tried this on the aforementioned Win 11 with no success. Sad.
Edit2: solved! with this youtube video: xN6K8hSxcG8
