021 VLAN Routing Physical Gateway Limitations
VLANs segment broadcast traffic on a switch and segment a switched network into different LANs.
By default, a host can communicate with only those hosts that are members of the same VLAN.
Whenever hosts in one VLAN need to communicate with hosts in another VLAN
The traffic must be routed between them ( using Router/L3 Switch)
This is known as inter-VLAN routing.
