12. Azure – Attach and Detach Data Disks for Windows Machines

How to Attach and Detach Data Disks for Windows Machines:

Create windows virtual machine

Click on Next: Disks

Click on create and attach a new disk

Click on change size

Select the size from list or enter the size

Click on ok
Click on ok

Check delete with VM

Click on review + create

Connect the VM using Remote desktop connection

Open Service manager

Click on files and storage services

Click on disks
Right click on the disk

Click on initialize

Click on yes

Create volume using the disk

Right on the disk

Click on new volume
Click on Next

Click on Next

Click on Next

Click on Next

Click on Next

Click on create
Now check this PC

Open F Drive & create one file

Unmount the data disk from virtual machine

Go to server manager

Click on files and storage services

Click on disks

Right click on the disk
Click on Take offline

Click on yes

Detach the data disk

Click on the name of the VM

Click on disks

Click on X

Click on save
Create another Windows virtual machine

Open virtual machine

Click on disks

Click on attach existing disks

Click on save

Connect the second virtual machine using remote desktop connection
Open this PC

Open F drive
