2016: Assign a Static IP Address to Raspberry Pi

How to assign your Raspberry Pi 3 a static IP address using the latest version of Raspbian or NOOBS.

This task assumes that you have the latest official Raspbian OS release installed.

This guide also assumes that you’ve connected your Pi to a network via Ethernet.
