2016 OpenStack Barcelona – Sripriya Seetharam, Bob Haddleton – Tacker 102 Beyond VNF life cycle man

Tacker project is an extendable NFV orchestration software that follows a plugin driver model approach for ease of customization and adaptability by network operators. Operators wanting to deploy Tacker in their infrastructure typically write custom drivers based on their VNF requirements and implement end to end service workflows. In this session, first you will learn about Tacker internals on how different components such as VNFM, NFVO and VIM interact with each other. New features such as manual and autoscaling, events notification and VNF forwarding graphs introduced in the Newton release will be discussed. Then, you will learn how to extend Tacker’s capability by writing custom drivers. A step-by-step procedure of writing a new driver for VNF monitoring, configuration and supporting custom VIMs will be presented. Lastly, the audience will learn how to configure the new drivers in Tacker and invoke them dynamically through TOSCA VNFD template specification.
