• 😢😢😢😢 intel ties rysen 8 months late. Hawk point will change this but if ypu dont nwed a laptop strixpoint will demolish intel in 6 months.

• Intel cpu is not cpu of 2024. We need ryzen reviews.

• Honestly, pretty impressive jump compared to 13th gen in terms of efficieny. howver the its not even in the same ballpark as the upcoming least powerful SD X elite. The single core is extrememly disappointing

• Andrew, thank's for the double unboxing, and your patience. I was waiting for this new Zenbook 14, and the new chipset. I hope the bugs get worked out. I read somewhere that the the software was just released in mid December. No wonder it's having issues. I also don't like the power plug on the right side. They should have split the USB C charging ports. It's also running kind of warm. Loved the Acer too. I will have to look into it. I can wait for the 2025 Zenbook as in I'm in no rush.. Cheers.

• Great to see that they removed that numberpad thing on the touchpad. Maybe it was useful, but it just looked dumb aesthetically. Keep that stuff separated. I'm still on the fence whether I would like the face recognition ID versus fingerprint biometrics. I am liking the trend towards 14". Fits perfectly in sling bags.

• To test the power consumption of the cpu, you can connect the laptop to an external display. So the oled screen is not taken into consideration, and u can compare it with other devices

• If the Zenbook was a review unit, the bugs would have been more excused but as a retail unit this is a disaster.

• This is what you would get if you pulled it out of the box and didn't run ANY updates prior to using. No ASUS updates done. Might be some really important driver updates needed before testing.

• I used to wait for NotebookCheck review on system with very new component such as this, the thing with an unboxing with too much troubles is some possible negative memories of it.

• Just realised that design on top is actually asus logo etched in. Bigger version of what they give in AMD versions of zenbook

• Hey Dave, excellent overview! I also got this Zenbook 14 and geekbench also wouldn't launch after all updates had been completed. For me, and my workload, its too hot, laggy and unresponsive. I got an OLED P14s on discount for $1129 with 7840U/64GB of RAM and even when I have them both at 27Gb usage, the Zenbook is significantly slower. intel needs to fix meteor lake!

• Great livestream tonight. Interesting to see the crazy situations that can arise when testing a new laptop. Just a note when you update the drivers for the Intel ARC card you might want to check Intel's website for the latest drivers for this card. Intel frequently updates the drivers for these cards. I went through this with the drivers for my HP Spectre with the Arc graphics card. There were many bugs with the early drivers that have since been resolved. Have fun.
