New PPA to Install GIMP 2.10.22 on Ubuntu 20.04, 20.10, 18.04 | Alternative Photoshop for Linux

Otto Kesselgulasch PPA is dead. Use this new PPA instead to get the latest GIMP + G’mic on Ubuntu 18.04 LTS, 20.04 LTS, 20.10 and its based distro like Linux Mint, Elementary, and Pop! OS.

I know, Snap and Flatpak is there to offers the latest version of GNU Image Manipulation Program.

But, a containerized package isn’t for everyone. Personally, I prefer to install / update / upgrade GIMP using the traditional method, because it’s faster, lighter, and doesn’t take up much storage.

About The Software
GIMP is a cross-platform image editor available for GNU/Linux, OS X, Windows and more operating systems. It is free software, you can change its source code and distribute your changes.

Whether you are a graphic designer, photographer, illustrator, or scientist, GIMP provides you with sophisticated tools to get your job done.

It won’t be an exaggeration if I say that GIMP is the most popular image editor in Linux and perhaps the best free open source Adobe Photoshop alternative for Linux.
