Introduction To Linux CentOS 7 – part 1

How to start Linux CentOS 7 revealed!!!
Lecture 1 : Linux Overview

When it comes to hosting your website, you have a bewildering array of options to choose from. Using a Linux VPS, or Virtual Private Server, is always a smart way to go. There are a number of great Linux choices out there, but two of the most popular are Red Hat Enterprise Linux and CentOS. In many ways, the two server operating systems are extremely similar. As a matter of fact, they’re practically identical on the surface. But there are a few reasons why CentOS Linux may just be the superior all-around platform for your virtual private server hosting needs.

Red Hat Enterprise Linux is one of the oldest Linux server distributions available. While they once offered a community edition of their software, that’s no longer the case. Since it’s not free anymore, independent developers created CentOS Linux to fill the gap. It’s basically the same thing as RHEL, except that it’s free. CentOS uses the same software package format as Red Hat, and the two are more or less fully compatible. CentOS Linux is essentially a re-branded edition of Red Hat Linux. Using a CentOS VPS hosting platform, you get all the benefits of Red Hat without having to pay for it.

As a community project, CentOS comes with a deep pool of support in the form of online forums, tutorials and fellow webmasters to address any problem you may encounter. Another advantage to using CentOS is stability. CentOS releases for software and security upgrades follow Red Hat’s releases by a few weeks. That means that any issues or bugs that may crop up are usually ironed before CentOS releases their own updates. Red Hat Linux offers support for 13 months for each of their new releases, whereas CentOS supports their releases for years. A CentOS VPS solution doesn’t have to be upgraded to the next version for a long time.
