Red Hat 'open source' strategy achieving innovative software outcomes

Red Hat’s Regional Vice President and ANZ General Manager Max McLaren has spoken with Sky News Business Editor Ross Greenwood about the innovative techniques adopted by the business to develop new software products.
Red Hat was purchased by IBM in 2019 for $34 billion making it the largest software acquisition in history.

Mr Greenwood said one of the reasons Red Hat was so attractive to the multinational company was because of the way it champions “enterprise open source” to help customers drive innovation.

Speaking about the ‘open source’ technique Mr McLaren said the process helped people “collaborate and contribute” and essentially worked by crowdsourcing ideas which were then integrated into software packages.
