You must download and install these updates according to the order I show them, the 3rd update needs the previous update to be installed.

This video shows how to fix the problem with Windows 7 checking for updates taking forever / hours / days

You should do this Windows Update fix on a new computer before you install ANY other software, some software install their own updates which can make problems for Windows Update on Windows 7.

So when you do a clean install of Windows 7, do this update fix and then a full Windows Update and only when this is completed you can install your other sofware and games.

1. Download Google Chrome 64 https://www.google.com/chrome/browser/beta.html

2. Go to: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/949358 and download “”Failure configuring Windows updates…”

3. Restart computer

4. Go to https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/3020369 and download “April 2015 servicing stack update for Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2”

You must stop Windows Update Service BEFORE you install this update

5. Go to https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/3172605 and download “July 2016 update rollup for Windows 7 SP1 and Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1”

6. Restart and it will take less than 10 minutes to find updates
