Ubuntu 23.04: What's New?

Ubuntu 23.04 is the latest version of Ubuntu, the world’s most popular Linux desktop operating system — but what’s new & improved?

Well, that’s what I tell you in this video. I showcase the new features Ubuntu 23.04 comes with, plus give my thoughts on whether it’s worth upgrading to (spoiler: kinda).

Ubuntu 23.04 “Lunar Lobster” is released on April 20, 2023 and you can download it, as always, for free from the official Ubuntu website.

  • I want to convert my wifi to wifi hotspot same feature available windows 11 and 10

  • nice video! but let's wait ubuntu 24 🙂

  • Nothing. It still sucks as it has all these years prior 🙂 No proprietary support, no hardware acceleration in browser, buggy APIs, updates still mess up your GPU,wifi and BT driver each time you run them and you still have to be console god to do basic stuff 🙂 No need to thank me I've saved you 6 minutes. Go outside and enjoy your life.

  • Looks good! I just wish the support was long term like 22.04 (LTS), instead of it being for a couple of months (Jan 2024)

  • I wonder when Ms Office available at Ubuntu !

  • This is the best Ubuntu promo channel ever.

  • I am impressed with Ubuntu 22.04, but only problem if you don't know commandline there are so many problems in Amazon store or installing package, I think windows must turned the windows 11 to run on Ubuntu instead of enhancing that old windows. 😂 they integrated the Ubuntu but specially the memory consumption on window 11 is unbelievably high. So many drivers to loaded, first components venders, then assembler companies drivers the windows drivers, it is a long chains. 😂

  • Ive been using ubuntu for a solid 11 years now and each update brings it closer to competing against Windows, it sucks people hate snap even though its really good for beginners becausw it auto updates itself

  • After upgrading 23.04 version my file manager is disappeared what is the problem please tell me

  • Still bad or no support for hdpi screens… you can set resolution to 100% scaling but everything just scales super tiny, menus and stuff scale horrible…

  • Which you prefer
Like windows 11 was good but windows user prefer windows 10
Plz tell me which is better to use
    Ubuntu 22.04 or 23.04

  • Please what's the name of your mouse and keyboard

  • I must say that Linux still sucks. I installed latest version of of Ubuntu but wifi didnt work so i bought a usb wifi and that dont work as well. Many people have problems with wifi and i think that is one of main reason Linux is still not popular to the mass. But i looks great indeed.

  • Great! i like your Kb and Mouse too ,very minimalist. whats the brand?

  • Ubuntu Desktop Settings isn't opening. Its showing that "No Ubuntu Settings found. Oops, something has gone wrong. Please report a bug in Launchpad." Suggest the solution.

  • Problems on my laptop :
    Bluetooth always remains on
External display is always a hit or miss
Display issues after waking up from suspend
    Automatic suspend does not work
    HIgh battery consumption

  • In Ubuntu's File Manager, when you have a lot of files in a directory (so that you need to scroll down to view the last one), Files Application gives you no blank area to click on to see the drop down menu for creating a new file or a folder so in that case it is impossible to create a new file or folder. I am waiting for Ubuntu to fix this

  • I would never use Ubuntu even if it was the only O/S for PC lol

  • I just installed 22.04 😅 Perhaps, in the near future I'll update to 23.04. I appreciate your effort!

  • i love your tyle.
no fake excitement, just you giving a brief overview.
    thanks!

  • I once used ubuntu and now i feel happy for the devs that I'm not a developer

  • What is the name of the keyboard? Looks so beautiful!

  • Is 23.04 stable? I tried 22.04 and its buggy on my Acer Swift 3 laptop. I installed back 20.04. I guess 20.04 is stable. These are my issues in 22.04:
    1. Wake from suspend freezes.
    2. I can't enable bluetooth
    3. Camera not detected

  • Hey guys, if you keep up with Ubuntu, can you ask the team to re-integrate wobbly windows? That was my pride and joy when I was in high school back on Ubuntu 5-9

  • I have a question
If ubuntu 22.04 has five years of free security and maintenance updates until April 2027
Then why does ubuntu 23.04 comes with nine months of security and maintenance updates until January 2024?

  • i was using Ubuntu as daily driver, and my last version was 18.04, it look cleaner and cooler now, i'm thinking to give it a shot, nice vid btw ^ ^

  • Ubuntu remains the best GNOME desktop experience, and with the effort the team puts into UX, it is also one of the best Linux desktop experiences in general. I hope Ubuntu keeps doing more and we keep getting new and better releases for years to come. The world needs it!

  • I gotta say, I decided to buy a cheap storage drive to install Ubuntu and just screw around a bit and see what all the Linux noise was about, but now I haven’t wanted to go back. I wasn’t expecting Ubuntu to feel so good and to give such a breath of new life to my 7 year old computer. Nor did I think Linux would be capable of doing everything I do on Windows. But after using Windows for more than a decade straight, I think I can officially say that I’m making the switch.

  • I tried 23.04 after a couple of years to see if the user experience was improved or not. I wanted to set the pc for a decent web browsing without opening the terminal. I have an asus Vivobook with 5600h 8gb ram 512ssd and a 1920×1200 display. I report my 30min experience before I returned to Windows as fast as I could.
-The fan worked extremely louder than Windows.
-All icons and texts were very small, I set the scale to 125% and it seemed to work for the os but not for the apps (Firefox adjusts the scale by downgrading the resolution).
-The trackpad scrolling speed is ridicolously fast, there are lot of people having the same issue with no solution. Obiouvsly no back gestures on web browser.
    – I downloaded Amd drivers from the website. Tried to install, error.
The user experience isn't terrible, it simply doesn't exist: you have to program the os instead of using it.
Ubuntu is a serious alternative if you own an old pc with a 720p screen that doesn't even boot up with Windows, but for other people it's simply a waste of time.

  • hi bro i'm kinda new to ubuntu linux, i have both iso versions, 23.04 with 9 months security and maintenance till 2024 and version 22.04.2 LTS…until 2027. i would like if you could do a comparison video about version 23.04 and 22.04.2 LTS and some tips for choice. thanks bro.
