When will the next version of Hyper-V come out?
We find out Microsoft will not release a new version of Hyper-V. Instead they want us to use Azure Stack HCI.
What is Azure Stack HCI?
HCI is hyper Converged Infrastructure. This essentially extends the same technology used in Azure into your datacenter.
Can I use my existing hardware for Azure Stack HCI?
The answer is not likely. If you are broadly dependent on Hyper-V. You have about five years to figure out what you will do next. Either way, it is going to cost money.

I switched to proxmox & have not regretted it after a really bad decision microsoft did with ReFS.
HyperV is so 90s. Plenty of free/open source solutions to replace it and get more features.
Just finished migrating all my systems and clients to KVM + ZFS. Best of all worlds.
Wait… I just RDP into one of my Server 2022 standard machines, and in the add roles and features, there is a checkbox to install the Hyper-V role plus the required remote management tools for Hyper-V… If I have time I'll remote into my lab and see if Server 2022 eval has this same role available and actually install it. never messed with Hyper-V, but was thinking about it, went with XCP-NG instead.
Can't you just install the Hyper-V role on a "normal" Server 2022??
