  • All that rain means mushrooms time for you brits to to go mushroom hunting.

  • Once again: EU tech win that shows if you actually want to make good laws to protect citizens and not just a company's "innovation for bottom line" then it can be done.

  • Framasoft is suiciding with its wokeness, inclusive non-French writing and all this garbage.

  • Well, if we're still stucked to use radeon driver instead of amdgpu, that doesn't really solve the problem.

  • we need this to propagate outside of EU, because microsoft has gotten too big for it's own good again.

  • What do you think of DeepNotes (note-taking app)?

  • Software freedom depends on…. software freedom. Do I like Microsoft's stupid restrictive gimmicks? No, absolutely not. Do I think they should be regulated? Also hard no. Whenever Microsoft loses more rights to build the software they want, SO DO WE. Regulation like this is crap and I hate it.

  • I wonder if all you need to do to have a "compliant Windows" is changing the OS' region to one in the EU… most likely not, but let's keep an eye on it anyway

  • I really wonder when will gnome stop wasting their time on bullsh't apps and finish implementing vrr and native systray.

  • Whatever AMD is planning, I'm certain it's in their interest to try and fight Nvidia.

  • I dont think they should be pushed to make everything open source. I think it should be on the people to choose wisely. If they use MS products, i have a hard time feeling sorry nowadays

  • Small correction: there are countries in the EEA that are not in the EU. These new rules will apply in all EEA countries.

That's not such a small detail, of course, if you happen to be in one of those countries.

  • I know that all of us tech savvy people are excited to see side loading on everything, but my excitement turns to terror when I realize that the average user that doesn’t understand security and doesn’t read anything will now be hit with a tsunami of scam software on devices that used to be safe.
I hope side loading can be hidden behind a maze of menus, because most users should never touch it.
I’m gonna be preparing a speech to all my family that leans on me for tech support to tell them that they shouldn’t turn it on, probably ever.

  • Now we will be able to uninstall Edge on windows, Safari on Mac, Chrome on Android, and a lot of those default apps that many companies force in your smartphone, and all you can do is at most put it to sleep.

  • Make a video on the Debian Testing distro. It could be the default linux desktop experience (.deb based, vanilla Gnome or any other DE, regular updates, more stable than rolling releases, lean out of the box.)

  • I hate Microsoft for a host of reasons. However, expecting them to stop acting like an evil, greedy, self-centered monopoly when – especially businesses – just keep shoveling them cash no matter how much they screw up is expecting far too much. They’re a terrible company that’s been doing terrible things to their competition (embrace, extend, extinguish) for 40ish years. Until we stop shoving money into their face, they won’t change.

  • Honestly, the EU making Microsoft & Apple out to be the boogie man is hilarious to me. Is no one paying attention to the EU's attempt to flip the entire Open Source world upside down & inside out with the "Resiliency Act"? One can choose a different operating system if Windoze sucks for them. They could have bought (and did) Android phones for USB-C connectors if they wanted. But upending the entire digital industry by nutjob bureaucrats in Brussels such that OSS may well have to make itself illegal to use in the EU, that's a real and present danger to average people.

  • Its amazing to see that Europe is becoming democratic because in the history of humanity Europe and middle East was full of monarchs I'm sure that France is inspiration behind all democracy

  • Imagine if MiOpen was ported for windows, amd would be much more popular for AI

  • Finally! Microsoft is just torturing users with edge!

  • Why EU are pursuing completely meaningless changes to Windows if there are much worse things they should certainly care about?

  • That's cool but when EU are annihilating the Chromium?
