  • Special shoutout to companies that support Linux natively. My new Dygma Defy keyboard (while super expensive) has both native Linux support and the entire software stack is open source o/

  • Is there a software that configures mouse sensitivity to match the one from Windows? I'd like to set the speed to 6/11

  • I'm just getting into actually using Linux after lots of research and it will probably be a while before I try running games. I am really hoping that I will find a way to use my lovely Elecom ergonomic trackball under Linux. For some reason, the scroll wheel on my Logitech MX510 mouse seems not to work in the Q4OS distro (Debian 12 based) that I am using to get my feet wet. Not enough free time right now to worry about that much though.
I appreciate your compact approach to videos Michael, but extracting all the information is sort of like unzipping an archive file used to be. It takes a little work. 😀

  • Michael I love your videos, and I believe that if Linux wants to truly compete with Windows it will have to find a way to do all of these things easily, I went back to Windows 10 after not being able to run WarZone or more so the Ricochet the anti cheat software.

  • Hello, i really like your videos!

Do you have any idea how i can force vsync on Fedora Workstation, i’ve been trying but i can’t figure it out thanks in advance

  • I have a Logitech G502 Hero and a Corsair K70, do you think openRGB or any other could work for my keyboard?

  • I recently bought the Wooting keypad for osu!. It uses a website for configuration, so a standalone Linux app in electron was easy to port for Wooting. I hope more companies go in that direction.

  • No input-remapper? It worked perfectly with my G-series Logitech mice and Redragon MMO-style mouse. Has RPM, deb, and AUR so at worst you might need to layer it on an immutable distro, but otherwise, works like a charm.

  • Hey Michael, quick question not directly related to the video: have you ever done a rundown of your Linux setup? Like hardware, distro(I see it's Fedora), most used software, GOME Extensions you use and so on?

I'm asking because I know you made a video about Fedora, one about GNOME Extensions and so on but I was wondering if you ever did a full setup tour.

  • What about peripherals from HP, Dell etc. Any way for those?

  • Flatpaks needing udev rules might resolve after the usb portal is completed
Can't talk about background daemons yet

  • On good side, at least community open source less prone to spyware or unwanted bloat from manufacturer app in windows 😮
Thank you for this video ❤

  • Was not happy with razer and Linux. Bought a Dygma keyboard instead. Their software is available for Linux.

  • Btw, Piper also works with Logitec Headsets. At least the Logitec G635 gaming headset works.

  • It's nice to see that the RGB peripherals are getting more support as the lighting has now been around so long that I'd expect that everyone would want more or less a single stop solution for managing most of the devices.

It would be nice if mice would go the high end custom keyboard route and besides configuration software would have a full open source firmware like the QMK is for keyboards.

  • If you're using a Steelseries mouse and Piper is not detecting it, there's a known issue with the latest release version (a regression from working the previous version). If you know how to do it, you can build Ratbagd and Piper from source (there are instructions at the respective Git repositories). It should be fixed when the next version is released (though as Michael notes, this isn't very frequently).

  • This is why I keep my hardware simple. No RGB BS, or silly hardware with a bunch of bells and whistles. I always found that stuff cringe; even when I was a Windows user. So, less complication for me. I just want to plug it in and that's it.

Also, from what I read about what other people said, the official Razer software is horrible on Windows. So, I think it's a blessing that I never bought any Razor product.

  • Thanks for the vid however I have issues configuring my RAMs RGB since they're not on OpenRGB. Any ideas how to handle this? I just want to switch this off or put into one solid color

  • Openrgb is a great tool for your rgb lights. And the support it's outstanding. I bought a roccat vulcan pro keyboard and was not supported by openrgb. I open an issue on gitlab, sent usb captures with wireshark, and I can tell you that developers are very quick. I test the pipeline version on windows, and works perfect. In Linux app crushes for one effect but other than that works perfect. I mainly use Linux since last year, and now I'm happy that I made the rgbs for keyboard to work in Linux.

  • Logi G502 Hero: I have the very annoying issue that when I press the scroll wheel button it also registers as a button4 (thumb button) click at the same time. Very annyoing in games. I cannot find a way to solve that.

  • I have a shity mouse
why no one give one for free like logitech g102
    I hope u'll help me
    btw i have 0$

  • I actually don't use any of these… my mouse is Corsair and use ckb-next and my keyboard is a bit more obscure, a Roccat Vulcan 120, which I use a software called Eruption to control. Only drawback to the Roccat is you need to use Windows to update the firmware first, THEN you can do everything on Linux after that.

  • 1600dpi Trackball + Mouse Inversion + Mouse Acceleration gaming superiority.

  • sadly my roccat burst pro isnt supported by Piper ….
but hey at least openRGB now works for me

  • I feel like with exception for openRazer perhaps, all these tools need a better name and be more present in Linux user's mind.
Including CoolerControl which is a graphical and easy to use UI for fan control built with qt, unless I am lucky to ask someone who knows about these, all these tools all feel so hidden away it'd make desktop Linux a much more enjoyable and on par experience to use.

  • What I find funny is Piper lets me configure each zone of my Logitech G703 separately. Something you cannot do with the windows software. Though there is an amusing bug with the mouse where it will randomly swap the zones colors with one another.

  • But what about ASUS' Armory Crate software or Lenovo's Vantage software or maybe HP's OMEN Gaming Hub software?

  • I could never get piper to work with my G602 mouse, any advice on that?

  • Man I hope we get elgato software to work on linux at some point, that'd be sick
