Skull and Bones – 15 Things You Should Know BEFORE BUYING
Almost seven years since its official announcement, Skull and Bones is finally launching on February 16th for Xbox Series X/S, PS5 and PC. It’s not too late for another delay, but the naval combat/pirate fantasy title is seemingly on track.
Offering multiple regions across the vast ocean to explore, Skull and Bones sees players interacting with the kingpins of the pirating world and building up their reputation to become a legend.
Completing contracts, like ambushing convoys and transporting materials, are a few methods to achieve this, and as your Infamy rises, you gain access to new ships, weapons and more. Here’s what you should know about Skull and Bones before its (current) worldwide release, from its differing price on consoles vs. PC to the post-launch plans.
how to repair windows 10
So it’s a remake of sid meier's pirates basically. Shame I was hoping for a pirate filled adventure where you leave your ship to look for treasure and sword fight.
Find it weird the cannons can shoot at any angle.
Wow….pretty sure Assassins Creed: Black Flag did this…AND did it better!! lol I'm passing on this dumpster fire.

Looks boring
maybe its not what ppl are expecting but it could just be fun to hang out with your pals and just muck about
Don't. Buy. It. Ever.
Honestly, they should have just let this game die 😂 it would have been kinder.
That one level in sly 3 is more interesting than this entire game. like litraly a mini game in another game is better than everything in this so called "qUaDrUpAl A" game.
Completely forgot about this game, Helldivers 2 is been such a good surprise. 😅
I just want a MAN O WAR
Bag of wank game
Screw this I can always play Ac black flag or sea of thieves for free and it is way better than that
she should have spent their money on an assassins creed version of Ark with cool climbing and world discovery…
Wait, you guys DO know Dead Island 2 is out and a really good game… uh right?
Lol in this state its worth max 15 how can u screw up something that took 10 years to make …….even graphics wise its off
Meh, I'll pass for now. Maybe catch it on a solid balls deep sale….
You can tell there's a review embargo on this game. When "Things you should know" includes things like "It might storm at sea", I doubt anyone is allowed to officially say anything negative until the official release day.
I love this game! I want my ship to be the main character. Fuk you all
Played 15+ Hours of the beta, gave it a good go… Pre-order cancelled. For the amount of time in development, you'd expect alot more than what this offers, and the due fact of no off-boat combat and high lack or activity off the ship is going to put people off massively.
Tip one wait till its on gamepass dont pay a dime the game is boring dull and trash
Lmao I wish I would have read these comments before spending 99.99 lol thanks guys
Nope not gonna buy and any penny on this game
Looks cool, but I know I'll end up playing this sort of game like 3 times then off to the digital dust bin.
Damn what a speed talker
With all the bullshit we have been getting lately. I'm gonna wait
Ubisoft strikes out yet again
Sooo….im not a pirate but a boat….yea you can keep it ill pass
Remember people there’s a reason there remaking black flag. Even ubi knows this game is crap
This game looks like it’s gonna be a flop. I’m sad, I was excited to play it with my sister. We loved sea of thieves. I got ps5 tho and she got PC
the graphics are amazing but that's about it, on land the character moves like it's 2003. The combat is great but when you're out sailing for 20 minutes to reach your checkpoint the game is just dull and boring. It's not a Starfield failure but it's not a great game either, not now at least.
people who call games trash just to call games trash really really need to stop playing video games its getting old at this point…. we understand you hate video games…. shut up already. its nothing trash about the game.. if you dont like it thats fine play something else
It's okay, but not good enough for £70.
Shit I’m I the only one that likes this game 😂😢
U stole the title "before u buy:
15 things but not one mention that there’s absolutely nothing to do off the boat. If it was 90% sailing and 10% land exploration with hand to hand combat I could get onboard. The way it is currently I’m gonna have to pass on it
Oh Boy, Seasonal Structure and Microtransactions!?
Fuck right off then. Thanks for allowing me to save my time and money.
Shouldve just redone black flag icl
And yet people still support ubisoft. 🤢🤮
Better than overwatch 2…which Promised us campaign..NOPE!!….cyberpunk came out and was decent trash…. star citizen still waiting for campaign squadron 42…….no man sky sucked and lied when it came out but not its a gem, one of the best space game…..people wanted a sea of thieves without pvp and soloable….now that they have it they complain? Can't please every idiot ubertuber
This is like the division but boats 😂
80 euros for this downgraded boring crap?
5 seconds into the video and it is already a no go for me. Canonballs flying out of a barrel and go left. 7 years of producing and no one mentioned it is impossible to shoot to the left when the cannon is aimed to the centre?
This literally looks the most boring game I've ever seen fall out of Ubishits anus. Would rather play Anthem.
The one word that I kept returning to in my experience with the beta and combing over my thoughts on the game, its features, presentation and overall playability was… "Mid".
This game embodies the word "Mid" to a "T", the core sailing and combat are satisfactory for a pirate game and are reminiscent of the game it was going to be DLC for, AC 4: Blackflag. But the overall package has some glaring issue as well;
Historically inaccurate ship cosmetics and the large amount of women in crews (I know it's a video game, but come on… Blackflag did it so much better with the historical accuracies. Why did they feel like ruining it for this IP?)
NPCs look borderline lifeless in their "conversations" with you, plus ALL the vendors have unnecessary, longwinded dialogue that you have to skim through just to trade… it's annoying at the least and downright a waste of development time at worst.
The setting is in the African coasts and South-Western Asia (East Indies), though this is an acceptable alternative to the Caribbean setting most associate with the golden age of Piracy, it also feels a bit… off. Plenty of African pirates, some Asian piracy is also depicted… but it doesn't spark that instant "Oh, this is like Blackflag" appeal that I think Ubisoft was going for when they started this project back in 2012-2013. It also feels like you have too much going on with the tight rivers and clustered settlements in the western side of the map, with a massive void in the middle of the map that isn't doing much (except inviting players to duke it out with the larger ship variants).
The pirate cosmetics are pretty nice, though the lack of more personal customization assets is disappointing. Too many open-shirt tops and not enough layering with different clothes to make your own pirate captain stand out.
The ship designs are okay, though the shapes don't entirely make sense for the ships they claim to be (i.e. The Sloop's hull is too short and broad for what a traditional Sloop would be modeled after, plus the 3 stacked mainsails make it look goofy. it should have one big mainsail and 1-2 front triangle sails along the bow plus the rear sail called, and I kid you not, The "spanker").
Wile we're on the subject of ships, there are a LOT of shipwrecks along the coasts of the various landmasses that resemble Man 'o Wars and Galleons, but there are none available in the game as a player's ship choice. Why have massive ships and a ship selection mechanic if you cannot select a fortress with sails and rigging!?
The tutorial level is a massive CHORE to complete, basically you're playing messenger/delivery boy for 2-3 different groups of castaways and you even get BETRAYED by one of them because they simply don't like you (yeah, spoilers and whatnot). It felt like the game wanted me to do something, but never bothered to concisely and plainly tell me to do it. I basically spent a good chunk of the tutorial backtracking and retracing my steps through the map and the tutorial logs, maybe I'm reading impaired but the hell if I knew what I was supposed to be doing half the time with some of these missions.
And finally, the cherry on top of this "Mid" flavored cake… the asking price. $70.00 USD. … Not even considering looking at this again until it goes on sale and they give it a MASSIVE update (but it's Ubisoft, so who knows… they may just pull the plug after one year like EA and Anthem).
Thank you for a fantastic review. Anyone else notice how he hinted at what the future of this game could be. Stop trying to shit on this game and give them time to make it amazing over time same company that made black flag yes then let them cook. And ofc its 70 bruh look at every other big name game thats the world nowadays grow up. For a BETA its a blast especially with friends.
