I’m not entirely sure but I think that is where you would go to reverse the windows 10 upgrade within the first like week or something if you didn’t like windows 10
I used this when I installed win 11 on my non tpm machine and it was super laggy so i had to use roll back.

what happens when you put the contents of windows.old into a partition? Does it let you use the windows version or does it do nothing?

Yes, you can delete Windows.old, but if you want to revert back to windows 10, you can't go back to windows 10
My pc is full for no absolute reason, I changed it to Windows 11 to test it then I changed it back to Windows 10 now I have to much problems and my PC is really full how do I fix this?
actually windows.old is used to restore older OSes if you upgraded to a newer version of windows
I deleted the Windows.old folder and I could still roll back to Windows 10 from Windows 11.
