5- Windows Server 2022 Adding Additional Domain Controller to existing Domain or Forest
Hey Guys,
Welcome to tutorial 5 of the Windows Server 2022. In this video, I will show how you can install, configure and add an additional domain controller to your existing domain/forest.

The primary reason for having multiple domain controllers is for fault tolerance. They will replicate the Active Directory information between them and can provide services if the other is unavailable. Having multiple DC’s is a best practice standard.

windows server dns
Awesome tutorial keep creating videos like this. Thanks!
If my AD ver is 2016 and creating additional server with 2022 OS any issue.?
Fantastic video tutorial. Easy and pleasant to follow. Thank you very much!
You deserve truly brother more than thumbs up….my all hand hug to you….India
what to do if the ping to domain does not work? pls help me with that
Thank you for this. I was having so much trouble on what I needed to put in for the username!
Also, if you are using VM's at Office or Business set up, remember to create 'snapshots' and backups in case anything happens. Backups should not be held onsite in case there is fire, or anything else.
Thanks for the video 🙂 . I did all the steps, but I have a little issue, if my main domain controller goes down the additional DC server gets inactive, I don't have access to the replica. I tried this setup with different virtual machines and the result is the same (if I get the first domain controller back online the issue goes away and the replica works fine). Any ideas to fix it? Thanks again.
ok but how to install a 2nd domain controller if u have already have a windows server with a DM and active directory ?
Many thanks
How the pc cinnection to the addtional-server?
Brilliant and easy to follow video, kudos!
If you have 2 DCs, I'd also go into DHCP manager > domain > IPv4 > Scope > Scope Options > Configure Options, and add both DNS server IPs so that updates the DNS settings on any DHCP-connected workstations, just in case you need to take one of the DCs down for maintenance
something i do as standard is create an additional disk and put the AD Databases on their during the set up. That way if your primary disk fails or C: gets corrupt, you're not jepidising the actual DB.
Thanks for this bro… I've been battling with adding a secondary DC to my primary DC… This fixed the issue…
Nice
