I don't see how openAI can do anything about the eu recommendations and rules made which don't frankly make much sense. There's also the bottom line that no one is complaining. If I search up for someone on the internet, no their information will not be accurate. Is anyone's height accurate? They're not claiming to be a government database with accurate information anymore than this youtube comment is claiming to be a supreme court judge. In fact, they have it clearly displayed that the information may be wrong and to check. Also regarding hallucinations, if you ask a human anything that's not directly obvious that they've heard of, they're going to hallucinate and most likely make it up, while making huge illogical jumps. The understanding of most humans about any random given topic isn't really setting the bar that high. Yes, chatGPT is not as good as a poet. But a poet is better at poetry than 99% of the population who are terrible at writing poetry. And that person who is good at poetry might be terrible at maths compared to chatGPT. edit: have the eu removed their ridiculous cookies law? Have they admitted their mistake? Nope. Thanks EU.
I never like to hear your Tuxedo ads, because they don't sell to New Zealand, and I really can't understand why.
I moved to linux after using WSL!
That was 5 years ago!
First i used WSL and xfce using VNC to connect, back then on WSL was a really bad experience!
Then i installed Garuda Linux i use it for one year then moved to Arch Linux and i still using it, this is on my main machine!
On my leptop i used Ubuntu, OpenSUSE, Arch Linux , Fedora, Pop OS and NixOS in that order, i am using NixOS on my leptop.
I hate KDE. It's cluttered, buggy and feels sluggish. I'd rather stick with MATE
KDE and Gnome should collaborate on working on a method to ensure that KDE apps adopt adwaita on gnome systems and Gnome apps adopt breeze on KDE systems. Having a unified theming standard would benefit users or both DEs.
KDE's initiative is greatly needed – most KDE apps look old and don't have a unified look. HOWEVER, I really hope KDE doesn't follow GNOME blindly, because GNOME's minimalism has gone so far that you can hardly get things done and you need a billion apps for those small different things. KDE apps should be broken down a little but not to the point of becoming like GNOME apps, which are close to useless.
I wonder why EU is not stepping in while it is obvious that this is a case that they should have 1 year ago.
Can't wait to see what comes of GNOME. Great video as always!
I am new to Linux. I had used Mint for a few months and now Fedora KDE for about a month. Mint wasn't good for multi-monitor while gaming and Fedora KDE has left me wanting things to perform as expected. For example: widgets sometimes reset themselves or appear nowhere when added. Or another, it comes with Xone for xbox controller support but the energy saver does not recognize the controller and will sleep the machine if you do not touch the keyboard/mouse.
8:48 Sorry I was just trying to install rocm on radeon 680m
Has anyone analyzed the effect of Windows 'embracing' of Ubuntu through WSL? How many Windows users actually use this feature, rather than dual-booting a Linux distro? Has Ubuntu gotten more users due to this feature?
Yeah we need to get rid of kmail and its family of awful apps that nobody uses but ships by default.
The Chat GPT hallucinations are both an issue and an interesting phenomenon. I asked Chat GPT to give me a list of items under a specific category. Most of the items that were listed were ones I already knew of, but one in particular jumped out at me. Having never heard of it before I asked for more information and it gave me various accounts about it, names for it in other languages, etc. Intrigued I started searching online for more information. Nothing. I tried searching for the names in other languages that Chat GPT provided. Nothing. I tried searching using descriptions provided by Chat GPT. Nothing. I then asked friends who were more knowledgeable on that topic. One didn't respond, the other didn't know what it could be referring to.
It's interesting in that it's showing how a detached "mind" can invent things, and whether we use the term "delude itself" or "lie" about these things, how it progresses to maintain the illusion. It's an issue because people will be using these databases to look up and research topics, and this is could easily lead to more disinformation; especially if it turns out the language models are tailoring lies to match the expectations of the user, which I suspect it is.
Microsoft have no reason to get rid of Linux. Their core business subscription based services now. Office and Azure. They pay little toward the development of the platform and it powers huge swathes of Azure which is wildly profitable for them.
Thank you.
and i keep hoping rhe steam deck keeps selling as yes
the impact this had on linux gaming is just so huge
4:19 Given they failed to communicate what they failed at, its a fair assumption it was the communication in the first place.
AI companies have lot of issues with ethics. This Monday I banned Anthropic ClaudeBot in WAF, because it was DDoSing our server – sent requests every second. Good crawling practice is to delay next request for at least 20 seconds or in best case couple minutes to not overload servers.
But now after watching your video and learning about Fedora mirror issues, I remembered that those ClaudeBot requests also came from AWS IP addresses. I looked up for Smoogens blog post and it seems unrelated, because he points out that requests were coming from yum.
WSL is great for developers working for companies whose IT is standardized on Windows but develop software that is deployed on linux like micro services or embedded systems. That's why it is so popular.
