"Windows 10 Was The Last Good Version Of Windows"

There are people that actually say this, that actually believe this, I don’t know if they are children, have never used another version or what the deal is. I remember how angry tech people were when it was first coming out.

  • Windows 10 is dogshit. 7 > 8.1 > XP (i started using computers in 2006/7)

  • I remember trying XP when it came out within a day or two I was reinstalling Windows 98 and I stuck with it till least service pack 2 by then I built my first computer with XP as the main OS.

  • I'm a bit older than you, so for me the last good version of Windows was 98. I tried XP for a month or so and hated it so thoroughly, especially for all the incompatibilities that prevented me from playing the few games I had, that I just wiped it off the hard drive and went back to dual booting Slackware and Win98. Sure, they fixed some of those problems with service packs, but they didn't even have SP1 when I tried it and it's a huge part of why I went Linux only way back then.

  • Hehe was on win7 until two months ago… now popOS… couldnt feel better about my decision to hold off on upgrading

  • Windows 10 once debloated is actually a great experience in my opinion, I like it. I was born when 7 came out but I hated the theme of Windows 7.

  • Nope. Windows XP was the last good version of Windows. All they had to do was add support for more memory and 64 bit applications and it would have been fine.

  • 2000 was the goat no one used at home unless they had too much money.

XP stock was a mess, XP SP2 and 3 were solid for its time.

Vista was good if you had a PC made for it. I had one, enjoyed it but also messed things up being way too young to think about security.

7 was just Vista SP2 with an uglier design

8 was Metro, 8.1 fixed it minor but damage was done. Otherwise it was 7.

10 had some good new features for gamers (XBOX integration and VR) and a proper startmenu again.
Is it good? Depends on which era of 10 we are talking about.

11 even more at releaae sounded to me like a forced mess.

  • I'm still using win7. Security isn't a concern here because ESUs. Wont say how I got those though. Also, since you mentioned it, Steam officially dropped support, but they ended up changing over to chromium 109, so it works fine without patches.
Switching to something else is on the table at some point. Can only get those ESUs until Jan 2026, so moving by then is the aim. And yes, ESUs for server 2008 R2 can be installed on 7 with patches.

  • The last good version of windows was Windows 8 the new start menu was the biggest improvment ever and they all burned it down in windows 8.1 and reurned to the windows 95 start menue days.

  • Windows 10 sucks, but doesn't suck as much as Windows 11. Windows 11 is what's finally tipping me to Linux full time.

  • Windows 2000 was amazingly good and sadly some features got into XP but not Win2k that necessited the change for many. Windows 7 was the last version that maintained the old and good start menu organisation, but it was a resource hog. A blank 64-bit install consumed 2GiB memory. Win10 was half as resource intensive, but majorly borked any manual start menu organisation from Win7.

  • lol i just did a windows 10 rice on my channel. sad that its going away after i learned a bunch about it and debloated it manually to really see what crap they put in and then i tried windows 11 on my sisters laptop and its so bad lol yea i only use windows to play the game rust and swap ssd back to linux for everything else

  • Windows 10 is not equal to another Windows 10.

When they say "Windows 10 good, 11 bad", it is probably about experience from Windows 10 build 1607 😉
Until 1607, it was more like Windows 7, than Windows 8. And nowadays it is just as bad as Windows 11 😀

  • Windows 2000 switched to NT kernel.
Windows 98 improved color depth from Windows 95 16-bits.
Windows 95, Windows 3.x were incredible improvements over DOS.

    Windows XP? Switched default theme.

  • I don't remember much of 95, 98, 2000 or Millenium and did not even have enough reference or knowledge to judge back them.
I like XP but it was pretty buggy at times. People give XP too much credit sometimes in my opinion and maybe because it was leagues better than what came before.
I never had the option to switch to Vista really.
I loved Windows 7. It was amazing.
I never wanted to switch to 8 because I did not like it. My roommate was using it and I really disliked it.
I was forced to switch to 10 when I bought a new PC because of the lack of driver support for 7. I disliked it. I dislike it to this day but it become bearable. Like a chronic pain you are just used to. Like bad knees you know all to well and know when not rely on them too much and have built your habits around avoiding to mess with them.

That being said, I am slowly transitioning to Linux. There are too much projects going on for me and I cannot do it outright. It will take roughly 3-6 months more. However, from my short time with Mint until now, it feels way better than Windows 10 ever felt.

  • Windows 7 was the last good one. Windows 10 pro is the last manageable one, with the help of scripts lile Chris Titus'.

There arent any people saying that Windows 10 was the last good one because 10 isn't good. But it's better than 11

  • Windows 10 is same crap as Linux if we compare them with Windows 11. Windows 11 is the most beautiful OS which is ever released.
Windows 11 + WSL2 + Win Terminal + Dev Drive is the all what you need for development, MS is definitely give more attention to developers now.

  • The ONLY good version of Windows was Windows 7, hands down, I have used everything from Windows 3.1 all the way up to the current Windows 11, While Windows 7 was the best, we must mention Windows XP as being one the best also… ahhh the days of ICQ chat and bombing your mate

  • Never thought 10 was good. I only tolerated it since i had no other choice. 7 for me will always be the best for me.

  • i paid for windows10 when microsoft said it was gonna be the last windows ever and i even paid the full price. i want money money back. they lied to me.🙁

  • W7 was the last good Windows and W10 was the last version of Windows I've ever used. Switched to Linux in 2017.

  • In the XP virus video the guy also disabled the firewall so there's that…

  • Windows 10 was the last version of Windows period. I refuse to believe otherwise!
