  • This might sound a little bit silly, but have you thought of setting up a tiny little set of solar Christmas lights (white ones, set them to non-flashing) high up in a tree to keep your color vision at night? Out of frame from the camera, but giving a bit of light for the camera sensor to work from. It should also keep the insects away from your trail cam footage.
Maybe wrap some electrical tape around half of them, to just add a tiny bit of light to the scene? It'd be a cheap test at least.
(Requires: a cheap set of outdoor solar Xmas lights, a ladder, a tree trunk to wrap them around, some electrical tape. Might surprise you. Sometimes low-end cheap hacks are the best. We're talking Dollar General lights, like a 12-24 LED string, because in this particular use-case, you actually only want a tiny bit of light. You're not trying to light up a street, or spook the animals. But a tiny bit of constant light coming from way out of their "threat perception" vertical level probably won't)

  • You weren't kidding when you said it keeps getting better and better. The video quality was quite impressive! For a guy who seems to always find ways to forget SD cards, the wrench scares me as well 😂 great review as always!

  • Great review! I might get one of these. Just bought the Keen Ranger about 8 months ago and have been using it for my back acre security for about three months. The longer tree strap will make for better mounting flexibility as I had to mount mine to a 2×4 which makes it stand out more to trespassers because it is more visible even though I painted it camouflage. The PIR motion sensor detection range really does stink for these cameras. My relevant range for detection is really only about 15 feet. I have used a year long plan with Flexiboom which has been working great. I had one disconnect in three months requiring me to take down the camera to do a reset, but it reconnected immediately and it has been otherwise very reliable. The Flexiboom website is pretty good for tracking usage of my card as well. I also like Reolink's support. Although they are not 24/7, their answers to my questions have been responsive when they return to work at the beginning of their work day and on target in terms of accuracy and value. My last thought on this Keen version and why I may buy this new Reolink 4K version based on Dave's review is that these cameras give you live view on demand of an area that you cannot otherwise see. For me that is invaluable as I need to catch trespassers to take action against them. The mixture of SD card cams and cellular gives me a good toolkit to deal with that.

  • Looks like they really did some good upgrades on this one. Its amazing how far trail cameras have come.

  • Excellent review 👍 I may be looking for something like this for the church property that I tend to. We have good regular security cameras in and around the building, but the property is about 8 acres about 75% wooded including right up to the parking lot. Have recently had a need to see whats going on out on the perimeter.

  • Great review Dave! an Impressive camera indeed! The deer peeing was perfect for showing the sound capabilities and made me chuckle a bit! Thanks for sharing and You are the Man!!

  • Love your videos Dave…! Just got my first CamoJoJo Friday, this camera looks really really cool…the Pan and Tilt looks awesome…!

  • That one may have gone to the top of the list, yep still looking. 😏

  • I have 5 of these before camo. Go pt. Using 3 of these to trigger hog traps. Used your advice and use longer range antennas for when the hogs decide to show up where cell service is poor.

  • Nice review! This looks like a good camera – thanks for sharing your opinions on it and showing us the field test too
