Breaks Western Monopoly! HarmonyOS's Biggest Upgrade, Surpasses Linux, Drops Android Compatibility.

On June 21, at Huawei’s Developer Conference, HarmonyOS NEXT was officially unveiled, marking a significant step towards becoming a fully independent operating system separate from Android and iOS. Huawei Executive Director Yu Chengdong stated, “Pure-blood HarmonyOS has achieved full-stack self-development from the inside out. It is an independently controllable operating system originating from China.” Over the past decade, HarmonyOS has accomplished what Western operating systems took thirty years to achieve. Yu emphasized that the HarmonyOS kernel has surpassed the Linux kernel, offering greater security, smoother performance, and a 10.7% boost in efficiency. Furthermore, HarmonyOS NEXT can enhance overall device performance by 30% and reduce power consumption by 20%, equivalent to a two-generation upgrade in chip technology.

At the conference, Huawei announced the launch of the Beta testing phase for HarmonyOS NEXT, available for developers. Devices including the Huawei Mate 60 series, Mate X5, and MatePad Pro 13.2-inch will begin the upgrade process immediately. The consumer version of the native HarmonyOS is set for official release in the fourth quarter of this year. This upgrade represents the most significant transformation of HarmonyOS since its inception. By relying entirely on the self-developed HarmonyOS kernel, the new system eliminates the traditional Unix and Linux kernels and Android’s AOSP code, becoming a “pure-blood” HarmonyOS. This redesign removes 40% of redundant code, significantly improving system smoothness, efficiency, and security.

The HarmonyOS project began in 2015 and was officially released in 2019. The introduction of the “pure-blood” HarmonyOS in 2024 marks the culmination of a decade-long effort. HarmonyOS NEXT, the first generation of native HarmonyOS, is expected to debut on the Mate70 phone. Yu Chengdong noted that since its launch, HarmonyOS has evolved over 1,778 days and four generations, with over 900 million devices now part of the HarmonyOS ecosystem and 2.54 million developers onboard. In less than a year, over 5,000 applications have started development within the HarmonyOS ecosystem, with 1,500 already available, signaling a sprint phase in ecosystem development.

  • yea with the highest security for the ccp spyware

  • The US technologies as told to the world are in fact mainly invented by migrants.
So when these migrants decided to return home, the technologies they have patented in the US is regarded as stolen US IPR.
    😂😂😂

  • Jai Hind. When will the Harmony NEXT os for PC be released?

  • Sure Harmony Os next will succeed in China with the developers support and dedicated apps growing every day. Atleast in Sweden alot of consumers want Usa apps and because of trade wars and since Gplay go to App gallery consumers couldnt get all there apps easily and they picked another brand and they stopped sell Huawei that was with P40 pro. So not many developers want to code apps to a Os with no sells of devices and only import from Germany today.

  • No matter how good or how big the user base of HarmonyOS is inside China, it won't do any good to Huawei on the international stage. With the technological war between the U.S. and China expected to rage on for at least another decade, it'd be wise for Huawei to re-embrace the dual-mode of previous HarmonyOSes that allowed both Chinese native apps and Western apps to co-exist in the same handsets. Re-branded Mate60-Advanced or Pura70-Advanced models and future designs will just do the trick to lift the reputation of the company around the world, not to mention a surge of international sales that all other brands can only dream of, including Apple iPhones.
