How To Fix Any Laptop Black Screen – Computer Turns On But No Display

If your laptop computer turns on but the screen stays black or dim without showing anything, use this video to troubleshoot. Starting with your RAM, I will take you through the possible causes all the way to the Motherboard. Q: What if I try all these steps and it still wont work?
A: If all of the steps here didn’t identify the issue and the computer didn’t display to an external monitor then we are left with your motherboard being the problem. It should be replaced. Q: My computer displays to an external monitor but wont display on its own.
A: If your computer displays to an external monitor but will not display to its own LCD, then your most likely looking at a LCD or an LCD Cable issue. Reseat the cable from both ends. If you need help with that, let me know. If that does not help, replace the LCD Cable and the LCD one at a time to find which one is bad.

  • I removed one ram stick and it worked, both ram sticks were working fine before i lubricated my cpu cooling fan which shorted it, i don't know how that affected the ram, but at least the pc is still working. Thanks king kong

  • 6:50 This here. I tried the monitor test for my laptop and miraculously my startup was showing on the external monitor. Sadly this means my LCD cable or whatever component is called needs to be changed from a PC Tech shop.

  • Mines 1000% HDMI but the issue is it keeps my screen black semi permanently. It came back on and as soon as I hooked up a HDMI it shuts off the screen. Even after unplugging it or waiting or anything or changing channel don't matter.

    Audio is on screen is black and will stay that way for a week probably. And I have no solution. Tried resetting unplugging every trick in the book. And nothing speeds it up.

    I don't get it at all. Same cord works fine with other tvs.
