• I didn't keep it for long, but for under £10 I got a Thinkpad T420 with no screen and no keyboard. You could switch it on in one of three ways: connecting two pins on the keyboard connector on the mobo, a wake on an packet, or put it in a dock and use the dock power button. Aside from that, it booted and ran Ubuntu fine off a USB stick.

• As someone who taught himself assembly code at 12 by listing op codes and their corresponding hex values and "compiling" the code by hand..(I couldn't afford the assembler it was $100.) this is what I like to see.

• I solder a usb device to remove applicatons.

• You should really use fastfetch. It's written in C, so you could uninstall the shell.

• I wanna know how he managed to hook up an I2C display to a serial port. Are you bitbanging I2C using the flow control pins? It looks like TX and RX aren't connected, but you could probably speed things up by rendering the framebuffer on a little MCU and treating the display as a serial terminal.
