Bangladesh Restores Mobile Internet After 11-Day Blackout | Dawn News English

Bangladesh has restored mobile internet after an 11-day blackout aimed at stopping protests over government job quotas. The state minister for telecommunications announced the resumption of 4G services, though social media platforms remain restricted. The blackout followed violent protests against a quota system that reserves 30% of government jobs for veterans’ relatives. Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan reported at least 147 deaths, with independent estimates suggesting over 200. Army patrols and a curfew are still in place, but the government has eased restrictions in Dhaka. The main protest group has threatened to renew demonstrations if detained leaders are not released.
