What Linux dev are you most excited for?
I hate systemd
Crowdstrike would not benefit from another kernel, also starting machines without protection would be worse than keeping them offline.
Redox + Cosmic
I'm burned out from waiting for the release of COSMIC in some form of alpha, beta, BRAVO. Too much talking about the topic before anything happens
Important point. CrowdStrike did the same thing on Linux almost 30 days prior to causing millions of Windows computers get stuck in a BSOD boot loop.
Wish i understood this stuff 😢 my field is finance, coded an mp3 player as a teen but I don't even know what open source means 😂
SavvyNik: This is THE SHEET! 👍
i like pop os, but only because the system76 nvidia drivers are just better than any others. idk why
Still, They should've done this along time ago, especially with Driver version 470. Many are still going to be using that as well. But yes , this is good news. Yes, sure I am using 470 myself as I have a card that only will work with that at least sanely. Once for some odd reason it got updated to 515 and it borked my entire system. So had to do a fresh reinstall and truly be sure it wouldn't upgrade to 515.
any news of adding Grub as a bootloader in pop os cosmic? thanks in advance!
Well done Nvidia — thanks! Linux's time is here!
I love linux because of the community but torvalds is a terrible person.
but, i3?
excited for Aug 8th. Sadly won't be home though
The Nvidia kernel module is not the same as the Nvidia graphics driver. We'll still have the same old closed-source GPU drivers, and that's not changing anytime soon. Nvidia is known for locking their premium software features, such as frame generation and CUDA, to premium and newer cards only, so they simply cannot open source their driver.
finally somebody evaluation why NVIDIA suddenly cares about Linux correctly.
they dont care, they just want it to cost less, so that they can get richer with AI
is it now good at gaming ?
I think Cosmic will finally replace the KDE Supremacy by being the definitive desktop environment.
