Ultimate Mobile Internet – Teltonika RUT955 LTE 4G WiFi GPS – Van, Motorhome, RV, Campervan.
#digitalnomad #mobileinternet #mobilewifi
In this video, we share our experience with the Teltonika RUT955 LTE router and how it helps us stay connected when we’re on the road.
We’ve shared budget-friendly Mobile Internet in our earlier videos, which did us pretty well – but to be able to work on the road we wanted to be sure we could always get as good internet speed as possible, this is probably overkill for most people but we wanted to share the set up we use and it can still be done for under £200.

Hi,i have the Rutt 955 and poynting antenna on my narrowboat, with a smarty sim. The router came with 2 wifi ariels, but works without them. Should i be using them? What are they for? Thanks for you help, i suspect this is such a daft question that i havent been able to find an answer! Cheers
Hi, loving your videos and am learning a lot!
I’m curious to know how you are powering the device. I don’t really want to plug in to 240v socket as nothing near where installation would be for the device. I’d like to tap into the 12v supply but see that the plug going into the device itself has 4 wires. Any tips on how to connect via 12v supply?
hi thank you for the video where do can i find a used one
Q can i use dsl and sims for rededdancy
Q has it ADSL and VDSL connections
thank you 🙂
Omar
Nice review thanks very much. Can I ask what external antenna and cable you would recommend for these please? I don't get a very good signal indoors but outside on the roof its quite good. Many thanks
Could you do a video on how you have set up the 955 explaining a bit of the Teltonika set up program please?
I went for the RUT955 but I have really struggled to get decent downloads. What max have you got? I am struggling to get more than 1MPS. I also bought the teltonika ariel and SMARTY.
Dude I like your videos, wonder if you can help me. I have just installed a RUT360 modem to my van and a poynting antenna on the roof. I have connect the RUT to the mobile part of the Poynting antenna, but I have not yet connected the Wi-Fi antenna to the Poynting antenna as I was thinking I needed the RUT to give me a Wi-Fi signal in the van or connection, if I connected them to the poynting this would make my Wi-Fi signal in the van weaker…? This is where I am confused, since the RUT 360 can connect to external Wi-Fi hotspots and I see the value of the external antenna connection with the Poynting external antenna..? So I am a bit confused and thought I would ask, should I connect it to my external Wi-Fi antennas or leave as is with the standard antennas to broadcast signal in the van..? Hope that makes sense!! Appreciate your support. Thanks Campbell
Is the Ruth 950 as good
Hi, did you use the inside range or outside range trigger on the analogue output?
Would you suggest the mimo3-15 or the Teltonika LTE/GPS/GLONASS/Wi-Fi Combo 3m
Hi how did you mount the combo antenna, the threaded stub looks too short to go through my caravan roof?
Is it good for a campsite where there's no mobile phone signal where campsite WiFi is low
im on a caravan site and wifi is very low only place to get it is if you stand outside site reception to use wifi
Hi I have a RUT 955 and was wondering about the tracker, how can I track from my phone or computer , many thanks for a clear video . cheers
Deffo worth getting version with CA. However, it's extremely important to have a decent antenna. I'd stand out on a limb and say the gain on their antenna isn't brilliant. Getting the best antenna will improve the speed by virtue of the impact it has on the rsrq, the reported cqi value and consequently speed. If you review antenna too, see if the router software details these 2 numbers. The next teltonika needs to have a 4×4 mimo option, especially for 5G. That being said, it's not going to be benefit much if parked up in rural areas
I'm having issues with failover set up with my RUT955. Please help me
Thank you for your training
would the rut950 also be suitable?
What speeds are roughly expected my sister just had one fitted in her camper and her mobile giving 15mbp but router 2mbp ?
I bought one of these 198 months ago. I have still to get it working. Setup and operating instructions are dreadful.
Great Vid. Cheers
Hi Greta video !what about the rut 11 and 12 are they better or not ?what differences you think are between ?..thanks
As clear I have three Lan ports and if I use three different datas (D1, D2, & D3) and want three those datas through this device (router rut955) later to other different devices can I distinguished from each other, or in another word how can I will send each D1,2, … for indicated destination? I appreciate your help.
Absolutely loved this and the other vids about wifi/mifi/connectivity etc. I'm on the verge of going full time van life as my company is now embracing working from home (smiley face). The Teltonika 955 really looks like the way to go as I'd be actually expected to work and connectivity for Zoom etc would be an issue for me. Apologies if I've not googled but what is the impact of 5G to all this?
john
I have an RUT240 and have been looking around at different 4G/LTE antennas for them. Have you tried any other antennas? What makes one antenna better than the rest?
Does it do portforwarding?
Does this unit do active gps tracking? As in track tracing to a remote (free / open source) service?
Hello! wow man, great content. I just came across this video but have scoped out a few of your others since and I love how simple they are put together while the key issues are communicated so clearly. Great bang for your buck! I have a question maybe you could help me out with: I live in El Hierro, Canary Islands in an area where there is no cable. My question is: How much better can I expect using this router/X12 give me (speed & reliability) VS than simply hotspotting from my phone or MiFi? A speed test from my phone gives me the following: DOWN 88.4 & UP 39.6 (these are great speeds IMO) Would this router improve these speeds further? Or do these speeds suggest I am in an area with good coverage so I'm actually in the range of the upper limit, and a simple MiFi device would be sufficient? Also similar questions for an antenna… Where I'm unclear are whether these routers + antennas increase speeds (can you squeeze more out of it) or do they more so help you "stretch to" or reach areas with signals which improves your connectivity, but never beyond a certain point. Sorry for being long-winded but I'm trying to understand how they work and not wanting to sink 3/4 hundred euros unnecessarily!
Thanks for video, I would like to connect with some dry contact (normally open and Close) alarm, how i do with that ? I got 6 dry contact alarm. Please confirm
Hello, what happened with the test of the outdoor router (at 1:40)?
I thought the wifi antennas were for broadcasting, not receiving. Have I got this completely wrong ? I have a puck 2 connected to my 950.
Very comprehensive overview of the excellent RUT955 MiFi Router. I've had one for a couple of months, but have still learnt lots from your video. Brilliant mate, well done.
Could you do a vid on setting up the router together with a simple IP motion detecting camera?
Thank you!
Hi
Will this RUT955, when married up to a Poynting Mimo antenna v3-15 (all corresponding cables and connections match perfectly it would seem..) be all I need in the motorhome to access the internet from 3g/4g mobile networks and 'selectable' public WiFi (BT WiFi/FON etc..)??
I am confused as have been given so much conflicting information regarding requiring additional devices and how a preferred internet source is selected, or not..🤔🤦.
Many thanks in advance if anyone can clear this up for me👍👍
I am looking at a mobile wifi system for my motorhome so that my wife can have her Zoom meetings while we are on the road. I have watched your under £50 video and was wondering what is the best way to get internet access in your opinion?
Hey, I wonder how to utilise a gps function? Can I check location of the vehicle remotely, without expensive subscription? How to do it? (Im waiting for my 955 to be delivered becouse of you ;), i will use included antennas and was also wondering is there a big deference with connecting to free WiFi’s using included antennas for roof or for example mimo’s one? Such a test would be great to evaluate purchasing expensive external antenna. 😉
Thank you for the video. How would you compare it to a Peplink Max HD2?
I can see a comment from "G S" keeps getting deleted by the YouTube Spam filter, but it is a good question so I wanted to respond.
GS – Comment
"Great Video, I wonder if you have tested/compared the AVTEX AR985 which appears to be a re-branded Teltonika unit with a re-branded 5G capable Panorama antenna, but whilst they advertise the unit as 5G Ready, only the antenna seems to be 5G, thoughts ?"
GS if you see this and still have trouble commenting please feel free to contact me through our website contact form.

great video. Is this possible to use 4G and cable connection both together? If yes if cable connection faulty is this picking up 4G connection it's self? Please explain Thank you
Is this compatible with the Mimo-3-v2-15?
While the Teltonika sure looks like an impressive quality product and goes well beyond an LTE router, it's worth mentioning that being a CAT4 it cannot aggregate multiple bands, so potentially you're getting speeds 2-3 or more times less than what you could be getting. Alternatives could be Netgear Nighthawk, Huawei B818 etc.
Far far too fast and assumes the person listening knows what they are doing
this would have been a better test if you had used the same antenna for both devices, did you ever test this out?
Thanks for this video. Bought the Rut 950 and a Smarty unlimited for £16 a month. Tried it yesterday and up to now it works brilliantly!
