A DISGRACE: Linux Foundation launches Open MetaVerse while only spending 3% of the budget on Linux!!
Is the #LinuxFoundation a #SCAM? Money Loundrying? linux foundation
More like the 3% Linux Foundation
XDDDD
The Linux Foundation is the corporate arm of Linux. That's why they don't fund infrastructure projects, because that's not where the money is. They only care about corporate projects because those corporations donate money to the foundation.
If they funded me, I could do more. Or at least justify it to my wife! 😉
I think the Open Agriculture stuff is legit. There's a lot of software used in modern farm equipment, which vendors use to rent seek from their already eye-wateringly expensive hardware.
Open Meta is obviously a scam.
They were going downhill ever since they accepted Allwinner as a member, them doing this seems hardly surprising. (for those that didn't know, allwinner refused to release the source code to their linux forks in violation of the license. The linux foundation knew this but still accepted them as a member anyway)
Feature creep for sure, but alot of them are pushing linux into more industries (like automotive, agriculture, metaverse space, etc) as well as supporting spaces that use Linux like cloud native computing with Kubernetes projects. The outreach programs and training also contribute to it.
We got funding from SPI for Archlinux32 last year which can be summarized as "half a beer for everyone of us two" 🙂
Seems like that companies invest to the Linux Foundation and they just promote their technologies which they can use for marketing (like hey our sw is backed up
by the Linux Foundation)
smells like someone is doing a lot of laundry.
Basically they want to care money more than current foundational logic behind of the Linux foundation principles
Rene, I wanted to know how I can join oss foundation and get paid while working on oss. I didn't get answers. I still don't understand how can they sustain the next generation of open source developers when they don't encourage and fund contributions from individuals who are most needed of support rather than big corps. Do you have any idea on this?
Also I don't understand how the people are selected in the committee. All these people that I see don't include people from 3rd world countries where there are a lot of motivated individuals who might just need some funding.
Projects like the mold linker that improve in the linking time does not receive enough funding and end up creating a commercial license because people prefer to spend the money in dumb things like the MetaVerse.
Typical behavior of bureaucrats everywhere. "Blah blah diversity, blah blah climate change. Now give me your money."
https://youtu.be/9u1VUII4Xtw?t=1757 On the other hand all those people do really decide how their companies work with Linux universe and where money go from their companies. We might be freaking out, but they are really sure they keep the market balanced and comfortable for the IT industry.
The best foundations with results are still GNU (is a club of IT pensionaries now??) and *BSD in any reincarnation. At least they did achieved their main goals. Apache is a dump filed for old codebase, but this works for those who needs old projects.
Ssshhhhhhhh, guys, look, this opensource programmer started suspecting something…. 🤣🤣 Well… I haven't watched the full video yet, but LF was founded by corporations and they donate. 😵💫😵💫
Linux foundation need token on ETH will pump like crazy :))
