A return to the new old Ubuntu. Latest linux breaks USB3 with multihubs :(
After yesterday’s loss of a functional workshop workstation it was back to bare metal and a complete reformat and reinstall.
I started out with a fresh install of Ubuntu 21.04 to no avail, the USB issues persisted with the microscope camera. Next option was to go back to 20.04LTS, and that has done the trick. Something in the linux kernel pertaining to USB3 has been broken; sadly when it comes to USB3 linux has a long history of issues.
