About Anonymous FTP: what is it? how to setup Anonymous FTP server? 4 ways to access Anonymous FTP

In this video, we will talk about anonymous FTP, why you need it, how to setup and how to use it.

Anonymous FTP is widely used for publishing and downloading public contents that don’t require security. It works great if you want to distribute public files to anybody.

Compared with HTTP, it is more efficient in downloading many files and folders at once, and it can support all file types.

DriveHQ’s Cloud FTP Server (https://www.drivehq.com/CloudFTPServerHosting/) supports anonymous FTP. It is much easier than other regular FTP servers. First, you need to sign up for a free business trial, or order a business subscription. Your Cloud FTP Server will be available immediately.

Then you just need to publish a folder. You can create a new folder and publish it, then upload your files into the published folder. Now anybody can log in anonymously and download files in your published folder. We will show 4 methods to access anonymous FTP.

Method 1: With a command-line FTP client
Log in with the username: anonymous and any password, then type in:
cd /USERNAME/PUBLISH_NAME

Method 2: With FileZilla
Log in with the username: anonymous and any password, then type in
/USERNAME/PUBLISH_NAME
in the address bar. You can then download files/folders with drag-n-drop.

Method 3: With Internet Explorer
Old web browsers like IE support anonymous FTP URLs such as:
ftp://ftp.drivehq.com/USERNAME/PUBLISH_NAME

Method 4: With Windows File Explorer
Type in the path:
ftp://ftp.drivehq.com/USERNAME/PUBLISH_NAME
