Aetos officer charged with armed robbery, used gun to steal over S$24,000 from moneylender in Jurong

Singapore has seen its first robbery with a firearm in 15 years. Mahadi Muhamad Mukhtar, an auxiliary police officer, allegedly robbed a moneylender at Jurong Gateway Road on April 12 and made off with more than $24,000. He was arrested within five hours. About S$17,500 has been recovered. Mahadi allegedly deposited some of the stolen cash into the bank account of his 34-year-old female friend, and repaid his debts to unlicensed moneylenders. If convicted, Mahadi faces life imprisonment and at least six strokes of the cane.
