As MarkAlan mentioned about warranty … What do you do when you come across a part like the clock spring that is under warranty? Do you get reimbursed through a dealership somehow? Would the warranty repair have to be done at a dealership so you would have to decline the repair? How does that kind of thing work?

you probably already fixed it… but when you were doing the test drive for the wheel speed sensors just as the view moved away from the scan tool the top sensor showed 42 for 1/2 second while the rest were single digit.

A press on the horn button whilst turning the steering wheel at the same time might have been quicker than waiting for the OBD Reader to turn on. I did say might. I honestly like the more challenging jobs to have sorted – NICE! They often are not thought of when a steering or wheel alignment is done by a junior or DIY person.
How have you got to 2023 without replacing a Hyundai clockspring?
Tip: REMOVE airbag from car when disconnected. Do not leave on dash :O
I'm surprised you didn't measure resistances on the new clockspring first just to make sure it was good. You know what they say about NEW..Never Ever Worked.
Not 100% sure but I think that clocking mechanism is a recall item ? My 2011 sonata has the same issue and no buttons work on the wheel either !
Usually when dealing with airbags and possible explosives in my face I disconnect the battery as a precaution
I just wanted to see you test the resistance on the new clock spring to see if there was a difference between new and old.
I am not a licensed auto mechanic but I am a retired engineer and I always thought before working on any SRS systems, the positive connection to your engine battery should be disconnected before working to protect from a false deployment and obviously injury. Also without a schematic diagram what are you actually troubleshooting or are you just guessing?
May I suggest Pine Hollow Auto Diagnostics in order to see how the pros do it.
….and let's not forget…… if you have a Takata airbag (yes they are still being installed) you get a much more healthy dose of heavy metals in your explosion to help you recover that much faster. No need for more of those Flintstones…….
