Alienware laptop is burned out, is it worth fixing? (this is bad) #tech #pc #technology #shorts

This Alienware gaming laptop is in my computer repair shop because it shorts out chargers and has no power. This beefy piece of tech was top of the line 9 years ago, but now it needs motherboard repair and a new HDD, which means this might not be worth it. Especially considering the outdated technology inside this pc and compared to the cost of a newer used gaming laptop with more powerful specs.

  • The $200 board repair quote was taken from the website of @dellpartspeople, aka The Second Greatest Technician That's Ever Lived aka The Greatest Dell Technician That's Ever Lived. And the point of the video is not IF it can be fixed, it's HOW MUCH is it going to cost for a BUSINESS to do it, and is it worth it for the customer?

  • To be honest, I watch his videos with my eyes closed and have nothing to do with the repairs
    Damn, that scripting bro
    😂😂

  • Me: Yeah ive got an extra charger
Andy: Yeah ive got and extra charging port ☠️

  • Laptops are convenient but I hate gaming on them. Great for movies/series though.

  • Your videos are so funny.😂
You are really are the greatest technician thats ever lived

  • I hope someone asks, why do the batteries shrink as small as your wife's "chest thing"💀💀💀🗿🗿🗿🙃

  • Tbh I consider a laptop like this where you actually can repair it more valuable than most laptops. I got a new laptop around 2016 for college, a yoga 2, and when it started running extremely slowly but was otherwise fine I tried opening it up to see if there was any way I could add new memory.

There isn’t. The motherboard of my yoga 2 is welded in place along with most of the components. It’s not upgradeable, it’s not expandable, it runs like shit despite me dumping tons of programs and uninstalling every non-essential bloatware windows put on it by force.

Keep the Chonky laptop. The thin ones aren’t worth it.

  • When i love alienware i keep it by any cost, no to any other company 😂😂😂

  • Definitely get the Lenovo for a few hundred more. Alienware is terrible anyway, and has terrible battery life.

  • i had a client with a alienware with the rgb strip on the side of his laptop, to take it apart you have to remove the connectors to those rgb to get to the motherboard ram/hdd, one of his rgb connectors was stuck, burnt on to it as the wire was pulled clean out of the plastic housing. forcibly breaking the plastic piece off we ordered a new one and i said that anyone who opens this again is going to rip the wire out again and possibly breaking the female housing. guess what happened?

  • lol i was thinking about fixing my m17xr3 just to have it again… it was my graduation gift. thought about restoring it. gpu fried in the middle of swtor dungeon game went plaid…. sad sad day.

  • depends on OS if it's W7 it's worth it considering how bad Microsoft is handling the last life of W10 and in general W11

  • I have a red one 3 years older than that one and it is sitting in my closet.

  • man i went out of my way to abuse and attempt to fry my school Chromebook and didnt even come anywhere close to this

  • This is why Right to Repair needs to be in the news more. This is why you should buy a Framework Laptop.

  • If it’s a 15 R2 I have a board that the only problem with it is only one working ram slot which I think shouldn’t be too much trouble.

  • Ask him if he wants to upgrade and then ask him if he wants to upgrade to the one that will be free and the one that is better for more at least a little more than you bought it for

  • I have an old 20-year-old Toshiba 32 bit architecture laptop and it’s still works and it has 4 GB of RAM, 2.33Ghz CPU and SSD, just need to clean it
