Battlefield 1 Performance on Linux – Ubuntu 24.04

Ubuntu 24.04 Boosts to the max of what the game can allow which is 200 FPS. Before, I was unable to get to 200 FPS with the same Ultra Settings, Vsync Off and FPS Limiter to 200. Now I can get to 200 FPS even with DirectX 12 enabled.

A note to one comment in the channel: The only steps I did where install Ubuntu 24.04, update it to the latest pending updates, install the Nvidia PPA with the 555 Nvidia Driver, install Steam, download the game and play. The game might “freeze” the first time you try to play but it is not actually the game but the EA launcher. You need to simply click on the Stop button, then Start the game again for the EA Launcher to kick in. It is a known issue on Window as well.

OS: Ubuntu 24.04
Window System – X (Not Wayland)
Steam – DEB Version (Not Snap or Flatpak)
Nvidia Driver – 555.52
MOBO: Asus Maximus Z790 Hero
VIDEO: Zotac Nvidia RTX 4090 AMP Extreme AIRO
CPU: Intel i9 13900k
RAM: g.skill 128GB Trident Z5 DDR5 6000Mhz
SSD: WD SN850x 2TB
GPU Screen Recorder @ 4K + 60fps + NVENC

  • For other games to try in Linux, games that use kernel-level anti-cheat that isn't EasyAntiCheat or Battleye are 100% borked and will never be playable on Linux. Examples of unplayable games are anything Riot Games, Destiny 2, Rainbow Six Siege, Battlefield V and 2042, EA Sports FC '24, EA Sports F1 2024, Call of Duty Warzone, and PUBG.

  • what are the pros and cons playing a game on linux? can you play anything?
