BEST Package Manger for Ubuntu/Debian

Quickly overviewing the APT Package Manger for Ubuntu and other Debian based systems, Synaptic. This package manager is a classic. Similar layout to the GUI of the YaST application in OpenSUSE.

sudo add-apt-repository universe
sudo apt update
sudo apt install synaptic

  • HI all when i run the following code sudo apt update i get E: Malformed entry 58 in list file /etc/apt/sources.list (Component)
E: The list of sources could not be read. Could someone help me please? Thank you

  • I was trying to install Conky and Conky-Manager in Kubuntu Linux, but after trying for a long time I was unable to install Conky-Manager, Can you please help me.

  • Hello, it's ok to install synaptic, but the issue of the stores I have solved them with:
    sudo apt install ubuntu-software
    sudo apt install gnome-software

  • Clickbait at its best. I thought you were gonna show us something new. Synaptics manager has been around as long as the Bible…

  • Synaptic is always one of the first things I install on a Debian based distro. It might not be the prettiest, but it's certainly reliable, easy to use & gets the job done….

  • I've been using Kubuntu since 2016, and I really like Muon. For how I use it, it's exactly as powerful as Synaptic. I wouldn't go to the length of installing Muon if I was using a GTK-based system or anything, but likewise I don't have Synaptic installed on my KDE/QT system. They're both drop-in replacements for each other, IMO. Also, Guh-nome guh-sucks. Love your channel k bye.

  • Is the beer free? As in "free beer"?

  • synaptic packagae manager is the only one i want to use at ubuntu based distros

  • I've always used a mix of synaptic and terminal. I dunno why store never works for me it's always got something messed up then all update shit is far easier in the terminal. Good tip is to get quick search filter back in synaptic 'apt install apt-xapian-index' ' apt update-apt-xapian-index -vf'.

  • Sad Endeavour Noises

though in all seriousness, can't wait for what's coming up!

  • Flatpak store for Ubuntu also great 👍 An improved Ubuntu store

  • Still my favorite package manager for Ubuntu based and Debian based distros!! Thanks!!!😀

  • Synaptic is THE package manager for Debian based systems. YaST is the same in the RPM based distros.

  • Idk why apt runs very poorly on all of my machines. Packages take forever to install, while Pacman is super speedy

  • Synaptic is a frontend to dpkg and not apt
