In this episode of Restore It, I revisit a mistake I made back in Spain, during the ‘Rear End Restoration’ episode and fix it properly. In preparation for the respray, I strip everything apart from the windscreen off of the car and clean and inspect the door jambs.

  • Get a wife and make babies. Your race and nation are nearly dead.

  • Heh. My car is already restored. But I could not assembly it😅

  • When you cut out metal where theres surface rust do you ever debate with yourself whether it can make it worse.. down the line? While i have a tendency too, to cut that rust – all those welds are very hard to protect properly from the backside…. creating a lot of potential for more rust, in the future.
Oh and heat warping is another delicate topic.

  • You need to get an impact driver. That would help with those stuborn bolts.

  • ALWAYS wear welding gloves! 🧤 You need your hands to make your living!

  • Bracket is a Door panel reinforcement. Reduces movement and then”hollow thump” sound when closing doors.

  • The bracket with clips in the door looks like a standard brace which many doors have, nowadays they just use glue/panelbond instead of clips to hold the brace where needed.

  • I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again. Please stop welding as you are – joined dots – and do short runs your welding will be so much better and far fewer pin holes & clean up. Good video otherwise and nice to see past mistakes rectified

  • ⚠️ The zinkprimer is not ment to paint on top off, it can push of other paint layers because of its self sacrificial character. That’s how zink works

  • You should use some cheap black spray paint to make templates on new sheet metal a bit quicker. Might save some time on the tracing

  • Definitely wouldn’t of sprayed solvents right next to an area of paint you had just rubbed down

  • It looks great and will be even better in the end. I can't wait for the final results!

  • Small powerful wagons are awesome. Love your work 👍

  • Steve, mate, I just wanted to drop a comment to say that I love the work you do! You genuinely do such high quality stuff and I love seeing it all come along. I also very much respect that you’re not afraid to admit your mistakes (not that we’d judge you haha). Sending positive vibes to you for this whole project! Keep up the good work mate!

  • The consistency of your welding could be that your changing direction, sometimes pushing away and other times pulling towards….

  • Those bolts definitely do not look factory. Like others have said, probably an aftermarket tow bar. I'd take those suckers outta there, haha!

  • The rear srceen washer bottle fill, is remover from under the rear light i believe you just pull in through from the inside or you unscrew something, and in my opinion you need more of a 45 degree angle, a bit more of a gap from the metal and the wire and a bit more time with the trigger pull, as you may not be putting enough to get the underside welded.
