  • I love opening youtube and then seeing your happy smiling face 😀 with a new video! Great idea to do DIY diagnosis's! And having a glimpse into your initial creative process. Love that hall tree. As someone in comments said, 'I don't hate it or love it' in reference to the X-ray flowers. Love your idea of making a sturdier more well made diy version of that drop leaf table.

  • I love this video, please continue doing ones like this!

  • Yes, I liked this (kind of) video. Please more.

Regarding the pieces I liked the sewing table, folding table, checkered board and entry hall chair (tree?) the most, the glas shelve/cupboard the least. I don't like glas for furniture in general, Idk. I prefer wood and black/rusted metal most.

And please don't put a bird in such a tiny cage!! Actually please don't put a bird in a cage at all!..
    😶

  • Great creative content format, which features what I love about your refurb style. Definitely do more of this! I love to thrift, but I lack the artistic eye. The birdcage/planter idea is beautiful and blew my mind! Will definitely be on the lookout for hanging cages for my patio!

  • This was a helpful video. Do more please! Your personal diagnosis of the various items was thoughtful and helpful. Thank you for sharing with us!

  • You asked for input, so here goes :
1 – hall tree. I would cut off the curvy top part and use the bottom half as an extra little seat, or pot a piece of glass over the arms, creating a side table. Paint or stain as you like.
2 – glass/brass/mirror table, remove the back pieces and turn the thing into a glam bar.
3 – curvy lamp, don't waste your time
4 – the 3 compartment wire piece, line the compartments with sheet moss, and use a window box on the porch.
5 – bird cage, your ideas were on point, or remove the base and use as a pendant lamp shade, maybe even weaving macrame cording or ribbons through the wires.
6 – game board, also not worth the time probably
7 – trunk, remove the lid and use as a planter box. I had one in my early teens, and covered the whole thing with my stamp collection. It looked cool, but I was also young, haha.
8 – the pendant light, I have seen these painted red (or color of choice) lamp shades replaced with small Terra cotta flower pots and used as an outdoor hanging planter from a tree. It looked awesome !
9 – old sewing machine base, my mom used a similar base topped with a piece of marble as her kitchen island….always loved that.
10 – xray flower pic, for you Andrew, I could see you incorporating it into a collage.
11 – collapsable table. Your ideas were on point. I would have gotten it, just to have if the price was right, and find a use for it later, just because. Haha.
    So, Sir, there ya go.

  • This was more interesting than I thought it would be. You have a good eye, and I agree completely about copying the drop-leaf table—a really useful and versatile piece. (Might I suggest Lowe’s/Home Depot unfinished project panels for the top?) I despair of something cool ever being done with old sewing machine stands/cabinets—the wood ones are intractably clunky, and the wrought iron kind are too hippie-dippie, imho. I could see you altering the large picture somehow; by itself, it’s a hard pass for me.

  • Love the fun ideas. Thank goodness you think outside the box so I don't have to.
Yes, colour drenching is really hot this year. You have solved my issue in my front foyer with my vintage/antique pieces that aren't worth stripping, but just weren't looking…right. Lightbulb moment. Thanks😊

  • my grandma had a folding craft table like that except it was white veneer and she laid her clothing patterns to cut the fabric. I was very handy

  • Love this format! It is really inspiring. I thought the mirrored piece was interesting but couldn’t get past the overhang. However you cleverly overcame this with your plan for the legs. Brilliant! Don’t think I like the flower picture but undecided.

  • I love this kind of video. Okay my favorite two pieces are the old wash basin with mirror, and the hall tree. I love your idea for the wash basin. Also, that flower pic, it's a little bit creepy, and the contrasting colors are too stark. I might like it better if the background was a gray and the x-ray flower was like moss green, or dusty blue color. Do more of these! You're giving us all some great ideas and teaching us how to think creatively.

  • I like the diy diagnosis ,but would watch youwork on your home. By the way I'm jealous of your goodwills mine are actual junk stores.

  • Great channel! I like your perspective and I adore the name of your channel. Clever. Thank you for your content.

  • wait, i have another idea! that flower frame looks glass, i know there's DIYs out there that bleach/distress glass or mirrors, i bet you could make an antiqued glass look out of that easy. 🙂

Kelsey from The Sorry girls has done this to mirrors in her Making Home series and Alexandra Gater did that in on of her recent videos by turning a mirror to glass. Just sharing ideas! 😀

  • Cool additional format! I loved the old sewing machine. It could be spectacular in a small bathroom, as you suggested. I'd love to see that glass table upcycled simply because I can't picture it and would love to be blown away.

  • I think the flower is originally made on photo sensitive paper, a technique that goes back to the earliest days of photography. I would love to have some of that very early stuff! But this particular print looks too commercial and some of the aesthetic is lost.

  • Some nice choices and some questionable ones here! I feel that anything made with crappy materials should be ignored—though yes, you could use it as a template if you want to build your own with good materials. My preference is to ignore anything mirrored that belongs to the 80s, or anything made of mirrors, like coffee tables etc. Mirrored things are too fragile to work with. I also just don’t like that aesthetic, whether it’s glam or something else. That said, I like this video and am always curious about your ideas for reworking stuff!

  • I think this series is a fantastic idea. I've followed 3 or 4 YouTubers as they redid their houses and they didn't have a plan for when the house was done. Mostly, I stopped following them so great transition!

  • Loved this vid! I felt like I was right there shopping with you discussing options and potential. Using your old footage as examples of techniques was brilliant. I think you might really be on to something new here.

  • I love the concept for this video. I look forward to watching!
Ok that was great. I would love to see more of this content in the future. Fun and inspiring!

  • I love this format! ❤ I definitely appreciate the fact that you already have a lot on your plate and to take on more projects just isn't feasible. I just like to go thrifting with you! (I was disabled in a bike accident and dependent on my husband to take me to the thrift shops. He's not a fan of thrifting. I try not to do it too often and I know to be successful at thrifting, it is important to go often!)

  • Yes!
I love the xray flower piece! It's dramatic, for sure. Carefully incorporated, it could be a really great focal piece for some art deco motif.
    Love it!!!

  • Your art piece was great! I think James needs to find another channel to watch😂

  • I love this format, and giving us the ideas is amazing. I wish you could take someone with you and they take the project and see it through with your guidance! I love hearing your ideas for things and the reasons you leave some things and take others. I think you showing us your criteria for curating pieces for your space is really interesting. thanks for trying new things!

  • I really enjoyed this content! I'm an avid thrifter but nit a DIYer. I see cool stuff and always fantasize of DIYing it into something amazing…but I know myself 😂 So I leave it. This content inspired me to give it a try 👊🏽

  • I’m not crazy about the floral piece, but I did like some of the other items

  • Liberace?…really Andrew? The only way that brass, glass & mirror piece would shout Liberace is if it had 1 candelabra and at least 3 Faberge eggs on top! Hahaha, Just kidding. One of my exes had an apartment size collapsible table just like the one you presented. It was, however, solid wood from Italy and had 4 folding chairs that nested inside the center cavity. He really put that to use in a small space. Very flexible. It appeared to me that the hall tree hooks were not original based on the ghost image of different shaded wood behind them. But that piece has a LOT of potential for manipulation. I like the format of suggested project pieces peppered with real projects. Cheers Andrew.

  • Some good ideas, like the thoughts on the floor lamp. The flower picture would have to be incorporated into a project I think to make it work.
